I have always done our own trip planning. Like most of you I am a compulsive planner , thats a large part of the pleasure of our trip planning for me. I see alot of Disers use DU. Why?? Is there any advantage to using a travel agent?? Do you have a better shot at getting the codes when they come out?? Is it a free service ?? Thanks for your imput.

I've used DU several times now. I am also a compulsive planner. But, when I went back to work, on a short time basis, I couldn't be sure to get any of the great discount codes. So, DU got them for me!!! They also got me the PS's that I wanted, for the times that I asked for. And, yes, they are free of charge to us. They get a commission from Disney. Sometimes it was a little nervewracking wondering what was going on when the codes came out. But, I tried to remember that my agent was also working on other people's vacations. I would use them again in a shot.

The only "con" I can think of is that YOU can not call Disney directly about your reservation. The "pros" are many. You give them your requests and they do all the work for you! And, yes, if a discount comes along, they'll adjust your reservation without your even having to ask. They are great about getting the PS's you want. They are great about responding to your emails -- any time you have a question or request, they're ready to take care of it.

I used DU for the first time and they were great for getting me discounts on my reservations and they also made all of my priority seatings.

The only con I can think of was the waiting between the time you e-mail your agent and the time they reply ... sometimes it was really quick (within minutes) but sometimes it took several hours. Of course that's just me, I'm an obssesive planner and sometimes impatient

dont forget- you can do a room only with them, and then do ALL of our PS's on your own.....you dont need to have them do these...or anything else you need to reserve..though I have heard you have a much better chance of getting certain PS's- like Cindy's castle, and some specialty cruises.

PROS
No long distance phone calls.
No stressing over breakfast PS at CRT.
A detailed itinerary - very handy for a 1st timer.
Discounts are applied.
CONS
None for us - my e-mails were responded to within hours (minutes in some cases)

We will definitely book our next trip through DU.

We used them last year at Easter and loved them! So much in fact I reserved Christmas 2005 at the beach Club last weekend thinking that when the codes come out I won't even have to give it another thought! (They were able to get us CRT for breakfast over Easter which was a HUGE highlight for dd who is now 3)

Pros
They will keep checking for discounts and apply to reservation.
I have used them 5 times, twice for cruises.

Cons
They don't always know what they are talking about. My last reservation request was for 14th floor concierge (CR) they confirmed it but when it was time to take the depoist, I was switched to 12th floor limited concierge. Still upset about it!

I first used them this past summer because I was booking 3 rooms and just did not want to have to worry about getting the discounts for all 3. I am a compulsive planner but it was so nice to have some one else worry about the visa codes the ap rates etc etc. Kelsie was our agent and she was wonderful, very patient as I made quite a few changes as time went on.
I liked using Dreams so much I used them again for my upcoming trip, again we have Kelsie. Again I've made a bunch of changes and she gets everything squared away. I went from going by myself, then added my mother and then added another room formy mother's friend and grand daughter.
I like not having to have to be on hold for ever to get the codes, because I am at work when they come out, Kelsie also booked our Candle Light Processional package for us, again, no sitting and waiting on hold for me!
I do book my other PSs, because my children are 17 and 22 I do not need to book the CRT and other hard to get requests.
You can not go wrong using Dreams Unlimited

I totally agree with helenk::yes:: Kelsie is our agent too and she's great. We must have changed our PS's 3 or 4 times and didn't have any problem at all.

I used DU the first time to straighten out a reservation which my local TA had messed up (forgot to put FIL on any of the hotel reservations, although she did remember to put him on the cruise). We've used them for all of our trips since then, both land and cruise trips, and are very pleased. The first few times, we did room only, but our last two trips we've had them book our PS's. Our agent has always found all the discounts, and even remembered that I have an AP without having to be reminded. I wouldn't do it myself now!
