"Dream Weavers" September 1, 2011

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is doing well! I think Disney is 'testing the waters' :lmao: with the two night cruises to nowhere. I am sure they decided to price high to see how many people would pay at that price and then will maybe offer sales if the ship does not book up. Of course, they would have to take into account the 'novelty' of this new cruise length and type. If the people who cruise on these 2nighters give positive feedback, then it is rather likely that Disney will find a way to incorporate more of these in ensuing seasons. Hopefully, the future will bring to you a wider selection of dates at lower prices! I might have been able to swing a seven night med cruise in 2012, so I am kinda sorry they aren't coming back. Then again, my daughter will be entering college that year so then again, maybe it is better that DCL will not be here next year!

On a totally unrelated topic, do we know for sure that we will be docking in Nassau on the 2nd? I am thinking of booking a room at comfort suites.

Deb,

I would only book if you they offer a 'refundable' rate. We cruised September 2008. We were re-routed because of a hurricane and ended up with our day at sea first instead of Nassau. And since it's high hurricane season, you never know. I was looking at doing the same things, but after reading more reviews and thinking we'll just stay on board then.

i keep playing with the idea of one of the NY cruises,we could take the LIRR from our house and then a cab from Penn Station.

My other thought is to take DD and I for a girls treat.

I wish I knew DHs work schedule.

Chiara, you are so close! That sounds like it would be a great 'girls' trip!

Thanks for the advice! I checked to see if the rate was refundable, which it is only up to 5 days beforehand. Then I noticed all the extra 'taxes' that you get stuck with. Sooooo... I am no longer in a dilemma as to whether to do Atlantis!!;) Aquaduck Wins!!:yay:

I really debated this one, especially since this will most likely be our only cruise with the 'kids'. I would not have thought twice about it until we were re-routed. But I do believe those that may excursion reservations with 'non-Disney' companies did allow them to make changes. They were telling people as we checked in of the changed itinerary. Friends were doing scuba diving and were able to change with no problem (just not sure of a hotel though).

On our first (and only) Disney Cruise, we had one 'official' meet up before the sail away party. Although we had 'linked' a few of our ressies together (since we were having a DFTW) and that enabled us to sit together at dinner and get to know some in our group better. We've made good friends with our table mates and have seen both families since cruising. We also 'ran into' one of the other families at Pop and keep in touch via f/b; email and such.

So for 'meet-ups' it can be anything we all decide on. There were some in our 'group' that we never got to 'meet' since they couldn't make the 'meet up' but still got to 'share' in their cruise via the FE exchange.

Thanks for the response! As for the FE exchange, what do you think the last day to join would be? I figured people would want to know asap how many people to buy or make gifts for? DD9 wants to join FE so bad :) It is just going to be DH, me and DD9 on this cruise. This is our first ever cruise so I hope everything turns out well :)

Welcome aboard (sorry didn't welcome you the first time). Glad to see you'll be joining us. If you'd like, come on over to facebook (link in the first post). We have a private group going there where you can share any information you'd not want to post online.

If you don't mind introduce yourself (you'll see all those already in our 'group' on the first post).

We haven't set a 'deadline' yet since we are still more than four months out. On our last cruise, we did have some last minute people join the cruise (the 75 day mark when the cruise had to be paid in full, you may find some openings then and people jump on board).

But it's really up to the group. What everyone is comfy with. I won't personally buy anything til summer.

Greetings you all :thumbsup2. Since somebody mentioned something about a meetup, a great idea and a must, maybe as we all book our pre-cruise hotel rooms everybody can post were you are staying and we could plan pre-cruise meet ups. Just a thought.:confused3

Hey honey, hi!

We were able to meet up with several families before our cruise as we all stayed at the Comfort Suites (I think) at the Port (awesome pool)!

FOUR MONTHS TODAY!!!! Just hit me this evening it's four months!!! So excited, it's finally getting close. :cool1:

Hello everyone, I put in a request to join the FB group. I just got off the Dream earlier this month and had a blast. I will be travelling with my son who will be 3 and my 4 year old daughter on this cruise. Then afterwards we are going to Disney for a week and my mom is joinining us. - Laura

Welcome Laura, I added you to the facebook group. We are doing a few days at Disney after our cruise. Would love to hear about your recent Dream trip.

Ordered some duffel bags from the Disney Store last week (warehouse sale, coupon and free shipping!!).

Thought it was about time we all had new sturdy carry on bags. These were a good size.

Here's the link in case anyone is interested (they have other characters also).

Hi All! Just wanted to introduce myself. My family and I will be cruising with Disney for the first time. My DH and I (rebecca) have only cruised once before and this will be our sons (6 y/o) first. So excited! We are a little concerned because w/o siblings he won't go to any of the kids activities w/o us. I feel like he'll miss out but we are trying. I requested to join the FB group and would love to connect with others.

Hello Rebecca and welcome!

I was wondering if you showed your DS videos on You Tube of the kids activities maybe that would make him interested in going?? Also, I read somewhere that on the first day parents can stay with thier children for quite a while while they adjust, but maybe someone else with young children would know more about that! Even if he doesn't go to the kids clubs, I doubt he will be 'missing out' because there are so many other fantastic things for families to do!

We are all going to have such an awesome time!!! I can't wait!!!

Welcome Rebecca. I added you to our FB group. We cruised once before and our table mates had one about the age of your son. I'll tell you, the first day, the might of 'played shy' but later, they couldn't get him out of the kids club. I hope that your son finds it as exciting as I've heard it is, but either way, I'm sure you'll have a great time.
