This will be our first cruise! Husband and I have 3 kiddos...daughter 11 and sons 5 & 6. Is there a FE for this cruise already. Trying to decide if want to get involved with it

Only if your power and internet are not taken out by a huricane!
I was finally able to get on-line yesterday internet was back up but not our power but we have a generator. I was able to get 11:30 check-in at the port and Palo for brunch. Only time that showed for brunch was 10:30 which is fine for us. We are not doing any shore excursions.
Power back at house and work today. Being the risk manager at Colonial Williamsburg my work has just started with our insurance claim. Good news is that it was not as bad as Isabel was in 2003. Well wishes to everyone. Sue

Glad you are OK but it does sound like you are gonna be VERY busy in the days and weeks ahead!! What a bummer that you couldn't get online on Aug 28th!! Guess it could've been worse, though, huh?

Was the 11:00 port arrival time gone, or did you WANT 11:30?

We aren't doing any excursions either, and I don't even think we are gonna do Palo, so my main concern is the port arrival time... I really do want to get on the ship as early as possible!

I'm a little confused now. To join the FE, do we need to sign up (send email with room and ages and all that) or just hang out the FE and hope some one finds our room?

We are not participating in the FE (too much added stress for me!), but I have gotten the impression that there may be a little bit of both going on with this cruise? Not real sure?

we are from athens tn. we booked this trip back in march of 2010 and dec 2011 seemed soooooo far away! glad it's finally approaching under 100 days from now! now maybe we can actually begin a realistic countdown! thanks for info on FE. like I said, may or may not do it but wanted to find out what was going on, if any, on this trip. Maybe its best to just keep things simple! love reading all the posts to get useful information about cruising. any advice on warding off potential motion sickness???? hoping not to deal with it!

I know your feeling! We booked in 2009 when the dates were first released... it's been a long time coming!! I downloaded the Disney "Ship Mate" app for my Android phone last night, and it has a day/hour countdown and has been fun to play around with!!

Re:motion sickness... my DD and I are both prone, and I tried last time to rely on "MotionEase"... didn't want the potential side effects of other meds. But it wasn't sufficient. Once we started taking the generic Bonine that I brought with us, it got MUCH better. We took it at night, so if it made us sleepy, the effects were gone by the next morning. I plan to start us on the generic Bonine a day before we board this time, and will keep my fingers crossed that it's enough. In other settings I have tried the ginger and sea bands without much luck. Still gonna take the MotionEase with us, too, as a supplement.... it usually works wonders for us...

Wow, I am living on this board today! Y'all are gonna be tired of hearing from me!

When you check in online, you will get your port arrival time. Supposedly now, your boarding number is tied to your port arrival time, but you don't actually get your boarding number until you arrive at the terminal and check in there. Folks with early port arrival times are supposed to now get the early boarding numbers and thus be able to get on the ship earlier.

HOWEVER, I have no clue how it works when you are checking with DCL at the airport. I feel sure that it's been discussed on the main board, but I just never paid attention to that information since we don't fly and it doesn't apply to us. Sorry I can't help more on that.... maybe somebody else can chime in....

As far as I am concerned anyone that has a FE hanging will get something from us. I do think there is a list but don't remember who is in charge.

The 11:00 time was still there I just pick 11:30 because we have Disney transfers from the resort and not sure how that will work.

I have no idea how we got it. I logged in on Tuesday when I could finally access the internet. There are two rooms linked with ours friends traveling with us and we are the only gold level cc. When I got into Palo's brunch there was one option for me that being a table 5-6 (there are 6 of us) at 10:30. I must say I was pleasantly surprised! Sue

I agreed to coordinate the FE list. Up until now we only had 4 staterooms interested. Send me a PM and I can add you to the list. Include Dis Name, Stateroom number, first names of who is in your stateroom, where you are from. List ages of anyone under 18. I will not be on the board much the next two weeks but will get it together for us. I am going to really need this vacation by the time it comes especially since I won't have oak and pine trees all over the place LOL!
