Dream: May 22, 2011

we do not have a room assigned yet, I called disney and they directed me back to my travel agent, so tomorrow I will see what my travel agent can do.
Also- There is another family from our town that is going to be on the cruise as well, we didn't know that we were on the same cruise until a week or so ago! Anyway, they too want to participate with the FE group.. Sherma, the mother, is planning on getting online tonight to register on the DISboard so she can get the info to you as well!! Thanks for the info and the quick reply!! I have so much to do and not a lot of time left!!

Are you in GTY status? If you chose a specific level and not GTY status, you can log in on http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ and retrieve your reservation. You can do your online check in right now (if you haven't already) as well as view your stateroom number or see if you are GTY status. You need your reservation number, and the date of birth of the lead person on the reservation.

Thanks for the information!! I have been busy this afternoon looking for FE.. Yes, my family wouldl ove to participate with the group-
We have the following in our party:
My Husband- Joey
Myself- Kelly

Welcome! Don't worry, you'll get the hang of the "lingo" pretty quickly. Now that you mention it, I think there actually is a thread somewhere that defines all the acronyms. Maybe in a "sticky" way at the top of the boards?

We're GTY as well ;) Typically you won't get assigned a cabin until 2-3 weeks before we sail, sometimes sooner and sometimes later. They don't promise to assign your room until you check in :scared1: but I've always gotten mine around the 2-week mark.

Here's a link to the current FE list (I'm sure Jim will add your name soon!): http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=39679577&postcount=707

Hi everyone!

First I'd like to welcome all the new posters to our May 22, 2011 cruise meet thread!

Really looking forward to meeting everyone! This group rocks!

J.Q. is on the road Pittsburgh bound as we speak. Something about carpooling with husurdady and henlady to mtmomma's to get some 'hooch'. :drinking1

He will update the FE as soon as we reconfirm a few participants who haven't posted in a while.

Hope everyone's GTY assignments come thru soon.

Question for the vets - Naomi's post about dropping off the group got us thinking re the logistics at the terminal. Can I check in and grab a boarding number if my whole cabin party isn't present at that time? Reason I'm asking is J.Q. could get held up on the shuttle and wind up behind me in line.

Whooot Guess its party at my house! Although he has 3 days to get here, cause im debating heading to Butte MT (home of Evil Kenievel Sp?) for the St Paddys gathering. It gets quite impressive! Puts my hooch to shame!
As for dropping everyone off, I think as a group we decided to just load us all onto the shuttle from the hotel.... All of us are first timers, and we dont want to miss something fun, new, and cool!
Oh yeah, and I guess I am the resident "cool sayings" slinger! :lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

Everything I've read says this is fine, you can check-in everyone else and get a boarding card, and when the person who was parking or dropping off a rental shows up, they just need to go up and get their photo taken to complete their registration. I have a feeling this happens a lot ;) It's what we're planning to do; David will drop me and the kids off at the terminal, return the car, and then take the car rental shuttle back to the port. With any luck we'll be through the lines by the time he gets back and the boys will be parked on the floor playing their DS's while we wait to board.

Thanks Heather. This is very similar to us except Jim is driving a few of us over earlier than the CI&S shuttle, parking back at the hotel and heading over with my parents on the shuttle. I didn't want them to wait too long in line but I'm a seasoned early-riser and can hang out with the morning crowd!

Naomi - your posts always make me laugh! I can picture you guys piling in the shuttle. If you time it right, you may get to carpool with J.Q. afterall:thumbsup2

So Butte,MT was home to Evil Knieval! Of course it was!!

St Paddys day is always INSANE in Butte, and then Kenieval (sp?) days are equally impressive. The whole TOWN shuts down, parades, parades, lots and lost of beer... most of it green. My brother destroyed his knee one year, as him and his buddies were walking down the street, and a woman was pouring beers off the balcony to people below..... Theres my brother, getting a "drink" and his buddy pushes him out of the way. Yup, drunken brother caught himself at the expense of his knee and his hockey career! Go figure!

I've gotten myself so lost and behind on planning this!!

I need to go back and figure out what GTY is and Pirate Night. I've got my son signed in for the Ocean Club, but for some reason can't my daughter. Not sure why she meets the requirements.

GYT means "Guaranteed Status". When you booked your cruise, did you book a specific room or were you placed on Guaranteed Status. If you are GTY then DCL will assign you a stateroom in your category sometime prior to the cruise.
Pirate night is on the third night of the cruise. There is a special Pirate Party on the pool deck followed by fireworks, followed by a finger food/dessert type buffet. Some people get all decked out in pirate gear for the Pirate Party, some don't, it's a matter of preference.

You might try deleting your "cookies" on your computer then going back into the DCL website and try to check your dtr into the kids club, I've read that has worked for some people who experienced such glitches.

Hope this helped. Need anything else? Just ask.

On my reservation I do have a stateroom number, so I'm guessing yes?

I will try that again for my daughter, thank you very much for your help :)

Since you have a stateroom number, then you are NOT on a GTY(Guaranteed Status). You know what room you will be in and that should not change, unless something would happen and DCL gives you a upgrade, but that does not happen very often.

I was checking out the Port excursions and I'm not real impressed with the choices for a small child. My 3 yr old would like to do some of the things but she's not old enough :(

Hyperventilating! It hit me just EXACTLY how much I have *already* spent on this trip. This is, OFFICIALLY, the most expensive vacation I have ever taken, as a parent or not.

my travel agent called last week to see if there would be any upgrades for us, she said they told her noone would most likely be upgraded. they told her the ship is full.

Naomi, take a deep breath........ now another one....... relax. Spending this time with your son and friends is worth it. I used to stress over the over all cost, but if you can afford it, even in small increments, it's OK. In the grand scheme of things it works out.
And besides, you've worked hard, studied hard and you deserve a big fat vacation at least once in a while!!!! You've earned it. Enjoy.:thumbsup2

Ok, I'm fine now. Mini panic over! Every time I spend a large LARGE chunk of change I get a bit woozy.
Someone needs to find me a superhero cape though. I got a phone call from my Dad this am. They were in a rental car, in Kingman AZ. The technologically challenged them, had been dinking with their Garmin Nuvi (that of course I set up) and had found a useful menu, but could NOT figure out how to get back to it.
I kid you not, this is the EXACT description I got: It's got a big black circle on the left, and a column on the right!
:scared1: Uh a little more help? like WORDS? Nope thats all I remember on it. Ok give me ten minutes and then call me back.
:surfweb::surfweb: (picture me using my google-fu skills) :surfweb::surfweb:
Two minutes later, I call them back. They pressed one button from the main menu. *head-desk* :rolleyes1
