I am so excited, I graduated from nursing school and jobs are very hard to find in my area. I did my preceptorship in the NICU and loved it. I found my calling and my love.

I have been applying and applying for everything with no results.

I got an interview for my dream NICU job (okay nights and weekends is not dream) but I don't care, I would work nights and weekends forever to have the job that I enjoy.

Trying hard not to get to excited and hopeful but I am struggling... I am on cloud nine and this is just the first interview. Friday at 10 am....

Those who pray please do, the prayers are very appreciated.

Thanks budget friends, my life is getting very very scary without a job.

Good luck!!

We still think of our time in the NICU and the nurses we grew to love. (67 days is a long time to not try and get to know the people caring for your child).

good luck!!!! one of my first jobs out of nursing school was in a NICU and I loved it!!!
now more than 25 years later I found my next perfect job it starts in September I will be working as a school nurse in a class with medically fragile children. Its perfect for me now because I have 4 kids and and now I dont work holidays, weekends, nights, and have summers off!!

that's the great thing about nursing there is something out there for most everybody!!!!!

Good luck. Hope you get the job.

But if you don't . . . if you get a job on another unit offer to crosstrain to NICU after you are oriented. It's a good way to get an "in" when the next opening comes up.

Again, good luck!

Good luck!! My oldest son spent 11 days in the NICU and the nurses were very special people  He's 13 now and healthy as a horse! Prayers sent your way!

I hope you get your dream job! Our DS spent 2 months in the NICU and they are the most wonderful caring people in the world! He is 17 and completely healthy thanks to God and the nurses and doctors who stayed with him day and night! It takes a special person to do this work!

Thanks Guys,

Part of the reason I think I loved it so much is I had preemies and I too have fond memories of the NICU staff. They are a neat bunch of nurses. I got along great during my preceptorship and the "team" really encouraged me to apply. (I would have anyway because I love it.)

Is it Friday yet?

Good luck and saying some prayers that this works out for you! I have a huge respect for those who can do work in any ICU environment!

Good luck!

This board did a great job of positive vibes for me and DH when we were interviewing and it worked. We both got the jobs!

(((Hugs)))), prayers and good luck!!! I have been an RN for almost 19 years and have done MANY types of nursing. I admire any and all who can work in NICU!! You are ^j^'s in my book!

Good luck! I just started my first RN position 4 months ago :). Not my dream unit, but like you said the market for new grads is tough so I didn't think I could be picky just starting out. I don't want NICU, but I would love post partum nursing. Maybe some day!

Thanks for the kind words. I really appreciate it as time is crawling before Friday.

As some of you have said you can't imagine working in NICU, I can't imagine not. The tiniest of patients are my passion. I pray I get to be there soon. It would truly be an answer to prayer. I am a single mom who had a savings account that is almost drained but we made it through school.

Thanks again.... keep up the good work I can feel the peace.

If you did your internship there, did well and got along with the staff, I think you have a definite "in" versus a new grad walking in off the street. Positive prayers and thoughts for you from an L&D night nurse for 21 yrs. Nights wears on you after awhile, but you can't beat the flexibility.

Good luck.

Good luck!

I retired last year after 27 yrs of nursing, 20 of them in an NICU. I would not want to work anywhere else either, so I know how you are feeling.

Let us know the outcome!

Prayers for you!!!

My sis is a NICU nurse it is an amazing job!!! I am sure you will end up in a good place.

Good luck! It is hard to get your first nursing job but after that, you could probably have a job anywhere you want with a little experience. That has been how it was for me anyway... NICU nursing does seem like fun! My son spent a few weeks there and I figure i'll probably switch to NICU nursing someday, when I get bored.. ;)
