It's taken me a while to get around to doing this because I was totally exhausted after the trip
but here goes!
Day one:
We left on Sunday at about 4pm, and drove to Canterbury where we had a Travelodge booked. The traffic was awful, and we got stuck in one really long traffic jam on the motorway which turned out just to be lots of people slowing down to look at a crash on the other side of the road! Needless to say DF was very angry (he suffers from the typical male afflictions of road rage and impatience lol), but once the traffic cleared we started getting very excited, and in no time we'd found our Travelodge. We stayed at the Canterbury Chaucer Travelodge, which cost us £19, and which I really can't recommend highly enough at that price! It all seemed brand new, the staff were very helpful, parking was free and we were just a stones throw from all the restaurants and shops. By the time we'd checked in and got ready for dinner it was about 9pm, and we wondered into Canterbury and had dinner at Cafe Rouge, which was lovely, and was made even sweeter by my 2 for 1 voucher
We then went back to the hotel, played lots of card games then went to sleep.
Day two
We got up at 6am (feeling slightly worse for wear after all the wine we'd got through the night before
), packed up the car and were on our way. There was no traffic at that time in the morning, and we got to the Eurotunnel 10 mins before we had to be. We went into the terminal and I collected the euros I'd ordered. Then we boarded the train, and tried to sleep on the train. When we got off in France it was pretty rainy, but the drive went pretty smoothly, with one quick stop at Calais when we realised we'd forgotten our GB sticker and yellow jackets (we now have so many of these - we always forget them then hve to buy more
). Our first port of call was Val d'Europe, where we parked up and headed into Auchan, where we stocked up on nectarines, water and wine (we bought a 5L box of red for E6 - gotta love the French booze prices!!). Then finally we headed to Dream Castle. We parked up and went to check in. There was about a 10 minute wait at the desk, but we didn't mind, and enjoyed taking in the lobby. When we got to our room we took some piccies, before we made too much of a mess!
Then we headed straight to Disney Village on the bus for lunch at Earl of Sandwich!!!! We were so excited, and we weren't disappointed! DF had a meatball sandwich:
I had a Cobb salad which was delicious and very filling (most of the sandwich fillings are also available in wraps or salads):
and we also had some potato salad:
The inside of the restaurant was really brill, and there's a great view from upstairs over the lake.
Then we had a quick look in the shops, and headed back to DC. We went for a swim in the hotel pool, but were too tired for the gym
I have to say, even though the pool is lovely, it was quite cold (and I'm not usually a wimp over that sort of thing), which was a shame, and I didn't want to go in the jacuzzi as there was a couple getting rather hot and heavy in there that grossed me out! We did go down the slide few times though which was fun
Then back up to the room to shower and change, then we walked into DV as it had stopped raining. On our way we stopped at Sequoia Lodge and enjoyed the hugest, most expensive cocktail in the world (but it was very very yummy and fun to share):
Then we headed over to BBWWS fr the 9.30 showing, got our hats and some beers, and watched the show:
We had a really great time
Then we headed back to the hotel and had a drink in the bar, where there were loads of people who looked like French teenagers all drinking champagne! Apparently there was a wedding the next day or something, but we did feel a bit out numbered, so just stayed for te one drink:
Needless to say when we finally got to bed we slept very well, and the DC King Size bed was very comfortable
