My family DW, DS (16), DD (10) just got back to dry land after 4 night Dream. I'm going to post this brief TR. I won't have time to respond to many questions but I hope this report will be helpful to some as I read many reports prior to our sailing. This was our 5th Disney Cruise and 7th overall (2 on Royal C).
Embarkation: Arrived MCO at 1000. Got in line downstairs and were surprised that check-in for ship was done at airport. We got our KeytotheWorld Cards as well as photos taken. We were given our Boarding Group #10 at the airport. Checkin lady never asked about "Port Arrival Time". I think they've done away with this concept. Boarded bus and arrived at Port at ~1120. Port terminal was packed. Ship had not yet opened. Ship opened for boarding at ~1145. We were meeting my In-laws who had driven to terminal and checked in at Port at ~1100 (they were given B#18). As we waited Disney CM approached us as Mother-in-Law in wheelchair. CM took sharpie and changed are # to 4-NICE!! Wading through folks crowding entryway was a bit of a challenge. Disney has to change this. Perhaps they could use the luggage pickup area at the terminal.
Ship: BEAUTIFUL! We did not find it overwhelming. DD loved "Detective Agency" game. Theaters beautiful as always. Watched Gnomeo and Juliet with DD. Seats in Beuna Vista awesome.
Room: A+ Cat 4B Family Veranda-very nice, shower better than Magic/Wonder. Of note shower is round with drain plug so you could use as a tub for little ones. DD loved bunk with stars on ceiling. Note-nobody bothered our door decorations.
Food: A. Cabanas very good, seating a bit tight. CM do seat you. We never waited more than 5min. Flo's V8 great. We liked getting a late lunch. DD loved "Eye Scream " station. She had about 10 cones on this 4 day trip.
Dinner was late seating. Rotation EG, RP, AP, AP. (Pirate night was on 3rd night.) Food as well as service in dining rooms was excellent. Our server Shelly Ann from Trinidad was wonderful. Head server Faisal also very attentive.
Shows: Deck Shows C. We liked the shows on Magic/Wonder much better. Sail Away Party not as much fun or as interactive as the previous
Stage shows A. Golden Mickeys updated and entertaining as always. Villains tonight a bit strange but entertaining. Believe A+. Fireworks A++. Pirate Party not as good as old Mickey/Capt Hook Show in my opinion.
Kids Clubs: A. DD loved Oceaneer Club. DS was in the Vibe 75% of the trip.
Adult Clubs: B. New Clubs are a bit strange. We didn't have a lot of time to spend there but did see Jeff Civilico Show and that was entertaining. DJ after show was a downer-nobody dancing to his Hip-Hop mixes. (Maybe I'm getting too old). Would have liked some 70's and 80's music to dance to.
Pools: B. Pools tight but it's a ship. You can't put an Olympic sized pool on a ship. Kids didn't seem to care. We didn't have trouble finding a seat but did find it annoying seeing a group of chairs saved for hrs with towels an no people. Some folks are just plain rude!! Aquaduck cool. Rode 2 times with DD. Waited 20-30 min.
Disembarkation: Had early flight MCO. Got cereal to go at Cabanas. Lined up 0705 in Atrium. Walked off ship 0716. Found luggage. (Luggage search could take a long time as there were thousands of bags. I don't know how they get all that luggage of the ship so quickly.) Through customs 0725. Arrived at MCO 0830 in plenty of time for 1040 flight.
Overall a GREAT Family Vacation. After reading so many negative reports I was really sweating this trip. Certainly this ship is larger and Disney is working out the bugs. We booked 7 night on Fantasy 6/2012!
