Can someone give me some more info on the "Dream" book I read about on another thread? Did you just receive it - or did you ask for it?? Is it only for prospective DVC members?

My husband and I received it last week. We DO NOT own DVC yet. We called to speak with a sales rep, whom we spoke with in the past. We have been going back and forth about purchasing since '05. So when we called her again, she said she was going to send us the latest info. So last week I got this big box via FedEx. Well, let me tell you my husband's response to the book, "You had me at the book!!!!!!!". This is an amazing hard cover, coffee table type book, with color pictures. One of Walt Disney! It basically has the same information that the last brochure we got in it, but with the additional section on AKV. But the book is sure beautiful. I'm not sure that if you go to the disney website to request written info. you would get it. Maybe they just mail you another one of those brochures. I am not sure if it is for people who they just know are on the brink of purchasing, and they send you this to just push you over the edge! These books must cost a lot, but I think the marketing strategy is working! It sure worked on us. Now we are just going back and forth about the amount of points to buy!:goodvibes

When we started looking into DVC, all we originally got when we requested info was a DVD package similar to that you get when planning a Disney Vacation. When I called the guide whose contact info was in the package and started asking specific questions regarding cost, incentives, financing, etc. he said he would send us additional info and that's when we got the Dreams book. Over the past 2 years of researching the DVC, we have received 3 of these books (2 in the mail and 1 from a tour of SSR and AKL in July 2007). We never had to specifically ask for the info but I would believe that you could do just that. After all, I would imagine that the guide or DVC are not going to go out of business if you get a book and don't buy or add on. I bet the guides make a pretty penny off of each sale such that the book cost would be insignificant.
Oh, by the way, we finally did buy at AKL through Disney.

We received one in the mail when we called to ask questions about DVC... We are looking to purchase and they just sent it out...

Very good marketing ploy... We haven't offically decided yet but everytime I look at that book I want it...

When you speak to a guide they will send you the book - we got ours when we went on the tour earlier this month.

It should come with a 'open at your own risk' warning :rotfl: because as soon as you open it you want to buy a piece of the 'dream'!!!

We bought last week at AKV so it worked on us :yay:

We got our Dream book at the preview center for the tour at SSR back in April. I thought my book might have been a couple of years old because the newest location in the book was SSR. All of the AKV info and points chart that our guide gave us info was in a separate smaller brown brochure.

I just called to ask some questions and they sent me the dream book. I was hooked as soon as I opened it:lmao:

The book I got from our visit earlier this month had the AKV in it. Actually, now that I bought, it is the most comprehensive out of all of the documents for points usage, etc. The other handbooks and stuff don't include AKV, I think there is one other document that did have AKV points chart in it.

I still carry it with me. :)

FYI,

If you live in Nebraska or Hawaii, you probably cannot get the book (thru the site) unless you actually go to WDW and go thru the program.
I live in Nebraska and we are one of two states that DVC will not even talk to on the phone about specifics becasue it is against the law in our states.
Luckily, i got the book on my visit to WDW & DVC last September. I am hoping to buy soon, but the wife and I are butting heads on how (resale or thru DVC, and resorts...AKV or BWV.
I am for thru buying Disney & at AKV - she is for the other.

DH and I were on the Disney cruise in April and popped into one of their info mtgs. We both saw the Dreams book, our eyes opened wide, and we just HAD to have it eventhough we are already members. It's wonderful!!!

I dont' think they'd refuse to send it to you if you were already a member. Call and say you're thinking of doing an add on and wondered if there was any information on pricing and the AKV points. I emailed to ask about the tours and had people calling me left right and center. I didn't even ask for the book, but apparantly one is being mailed out to me :D I'm excited though. To me it's not a matter of IF I will join.. it's WHEN !
