Dream AP preview - The Enchanted Forest at DLP

Ok I'm going on Sunday to see this and will do a little report if anyone is interested :)

Lucky you Carrie. I'd love to see your report and get more info - thanks!

First review from Sunday - I enjoyed it, it made a change to the usual "shows". It's all about nature and isn't very child orientated. I did think it was badly put together, especially the beginning as it had started but it wasn't clear that it had - no annoucement or anything. I was at the 14.40 show on Sunday so maybe the other shows were different. The singing was good, sometimes great - Enchantella was amazing. The costumes of the woodland creatures were beautiful and had great detail for some of them. But I felt that the character scenes were off - Pocohantas and John Smith was boring, Tarzan made you wonder what he was doing there as it was just rope tricks, Baloo and King Louie got everyone clapping along, Tangled had the nicest decor but it was too seriously sung, no real emotion. Oh yes everything is sung in English which is mad as there should be two shows like with Frozen. The guy playing Flyn had a very strong accent when he sung in English which was a bit off putting. Merida was ok but could have been more. The decor made me think of a pop up book and I liked the way it changed. I think that this being still a rehearsal and not a public performance it could change again a bit and I will go and see it again on Thursday :)

Went back to see the 1st public showing today as it was a beautiful day here - Seemed better today and the public enjoyed, load of Dip staff and management in watching. Main criticism listening to people now outside is that they should do it in French as well as in English and I agree. We are in France, the French makes up the largest number of guests and with it being the holidays there are a lot of French families here. They could have done both like for Frozen

I had a quick peek at the photos on your other post and agree that the costumes and sets are beautiful.

Glad to hear it was a little less disjointed today - like a lot of things in Disney, these things tend to evolve so maybe if they decide to offer every year it will change/evolve?

It's an odd one not having it in French though. Although if I'm honest, that's my biggest gripe when I visit DLRP - I really, really wish they'd do Phantom Manor and ToT in English as well as French. It's obviously different with shows as it's much easier to do this.

Maybe they had trouble casting? Maybe they're still waiting to cast a fully French speaking cast who can also do the tricks and look the part? Dunno..... Does seem odd otherwise!

I have an AP Dream, and so does my wife. We enjoyed a pre-release show last Saturday, that was scheduled for AP holders (I believe those pictures from InsideDLParis were shot at these presentations).

While the work around Chaparral Theater was stunning (we liked the addition of new trees that contributed to the atmosphere, and the fact that CMs of the show were wearing green outfit), we were kind of disappointed with the show.

My first reaction was that the line between talent and genius is very thin and quite unnoticeable, unless you're on the very edge below genius. The stage is gorgeous, the dancers are talented, no doubt about that; however, the show lacks for unity and consistence. It's as if several piece of art were stuck together without glue; as beautiful is it stands, it just doesn't fit.

One of the most argument against the show that I've heard (from people talking about it after performance and on various forums) is that famous Disney songs were played much faster than original, which feels awkward after a while.

One bonus point for foreigners is that the show is entirely in English. While I do personally love Disneyland Paris embrace Walt Disney's mother tongue, most French people are not used to listening Disney tunes in English and I believe this is number one concern about the show. I wouldn't be surprised if DLP somehow adapted the show to include 50/50 French/English (as they usually do when no pure English show are on schedule).
