Dream 7/5/11 - fish extender list

Codyboy - don't feel bad, I am making all our fish extenders, too! And they don't look pretty at all!!!

I was going to buy the fish extenders, but then I thought that it would save money to just make my own, plus the girls could have fun and build excitement in preparing for the cruise. Instead, I have spent more money on supplies to make the extender than it would have been to buy one. as I am now working on our second attempt at the extender, as the first one was all crooked.

At this rate, I will be hanging plastic bags on our fishies with our names in Sharpie. Codyboy, you can't get much more dorky than my plastic bags!

okay, after researching online the cost of the materials, i just decided to bite the dust and order this one, i have been looking at it for weeks now, and hopefully i can use it after the cruise as well.

it cost me $34 but I was fretting too much about driving around town looking for disney ribbons and material....and Joann's fabric although on sale was still $11.24 a yard, and I think I need 2 yards to do my own, so that would already be $22, not counting any other supplies.

I'm crafty, but having not made one before it would cost me too much to figure it out, and just like you said, it's less expensive and will look WAY nicer to have someone else make it for me! Jen from Stitches and Bows on Etsy is making ours! Can't wait til it arrives! It will be so fun to deliver the gifts onboard and see everyone's different FE's!

hi everyone,

haven't been on the last couple of days.

i updated the list on page 1. i just have to update the spreadsheet. remember it just has cabin numbers and basic passenger info. i'm going to take a stab at including deck plans so we know exactly where all the cabins are. i'll let you know when that is ready.

don't worry if your fish extender is hand-made, store-bought, or is a plastic bag. no one is judging. it's all about the fun of giving out your gifts and that feeling of anticipation every time you come back to your cabin checking those pockets.

I still haven't starting making my FE gifts or my door magnets. less than two months to go.

let me know if anything else still needs to be updated on the list. we are just missing a couple of cabin numbers. I took the unconfirmed cabin off the list.

She sure does! I can't wait to see it. But, like Ellen said, no one will care if it's handmade, ordered, plastic bags, etc... we're all getting gifts in it no matter what and I'm most excited about the kids' faces lighting up each time they find a special treat waiting for them in the FE. THAT is what is will be all about for us! Yeah!!!

And yes, Ellen, I'm with you, only 2 months left and I guess I'd better get started on magnets! I designed a whole bunch of them, now just have to find some magnetic paper to print them on... anyone know a good place to get that?

for previous cruises, i've gotten my magnetic paper at staples. it about $14 or $15 for 4 sheets. i wanted to find something cheaper. on amazon, i got packs of avery magnet sheets....5 sheets per pack for $8. got 3 packs for about the same cost as one pack from staples. the avery sheets are matte finish and thinner which i didn't expect. i printed a couple out and they still look great. not sure if the ends will start to curl on me. oriental trading company sells adhesive magnet sheets which i think you would adhere to your pictures. it's a dozen for $10.

We are still GTY as of today...promise to let you know as soon as I know!!
My DS and I are working on some of the FE gifts today...so fun!!! We have had our 'magnets' done for a while now...just need to add the actual magnets to them. I bought tiny strong ones on ebay and we are going to glue them to the back. Has anyone done it this way before? I hope it works okay!!

Thanks Ellen - I think I'll go with the Amazon Avery ones. I have lots of magnets designed and ready to print, so the more sheets the better! Might order those today - thanks for the recommendation!

Bette! I can't wait to see your son's polos! I placed my order with Jen for a lot of outfits for the kids and our FE, but didn't see the polos until recently, so I didn't get any for my DS. But I wish I did! Can't wait to see how yours look! Her work is so great!

I put together an excel spreadsheet. just missing two cabin numbers. We know Bette is waiting for her GTY. Need cabin number from ericandkelly.

Also have a copy of the deck plans on one sheet. the cabins are circled in black. this way only one sheet has to be printed. it's hard to read the cabin numbers but you'll know where to go on each deck.
