Dream 01/12/2015

Also - as we get closer, if there's enough interest, I'd love to set up a private mixology class for our group. We've done it twice in the past and it was a BLAST! ($15 per person for the class and 5 'sample' drinks)

Did you cruise a couple of years ago with Pittcrew? They had somebody set up a private mixology on their cruise and said it was EXCELLENT...didn't know if that was something common or some insider trick that you know. Either way, we're in! Me & DH.

Still not sure if we're going to participate in the FE or not this time...we're doing b2b and I'm not sure about bringing on and taking home 2 cruises worth of FE stuff :rotfl2:
At any rate...wanted to mention something we've done in the past...brought extra FE stuff for our servers and stateroom attendant. It's something little, and they probably discard it since they don't have a lot of space, but they genuinely seem to appreciate that we thought of them too.:flower3:

Runners here - hubby and I both participating in the WDW runDisney Marathon weekend as Dopeyers.....and of course could not pass up the CCC. It will be hubby and myself, our youngest son, he will be 13. Signed up for the Meet and Greet, not sure we will participate in the FE (although it sounds wonderful), and I am looking forward to meeting some fellow Dopeyers and CCCers too!!

Cheers!

Hi Everyone, Im Lauren & my Boyfriend Ricky and I will be on this cruise. We are from Australia. I am running Dopey and hoped to sign up to CCC but I couldn't get the link to work so I missed out (blame Australian internet it happens frequently when I try to register on Active.com). I will still run the cc5k though. I would love to join in on the FE and will let you know about Mixology. I just requested to Join the Facebook group. Thanks & Talk soon :goodvibes

Not sure - doesn't sound familiar :) We had someone offer on a previous cruise but it didn't pan out. So the last cruise my husband organized it and it was nuts. They actually had to move us from the piano bar to Animator's because our group was so big! We had a great time!

My daughter and I are signed up for the cruise and the Castaway Cay Challenge. This is our first Disney cruise and I am doing everything possible to soak up all the information! I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible. I am so excited for this and only hope that the weather will be good enough for me to get to Florida this year. I had really bad weather luck last year for the Marathon week and never made it.

I am a new runner at an old age. I have a lot more enthusiasm than speed! My daughter is a CM at Beach Club. She will be doing the Dopey Challenge. Nearly killed her last year!

I will be watching this thread and checking out Facebook.
Lynda R (not to be confused with LyndaC) and Elena (daughter)

It's so nice to find someone else who knows how to spell her name correctly. LOL!

That is a great idea to give to the cast members if I have to much! I have to say I am a tad bit confused with how the money handling and the tipping on the cruise works.. This is our first cruise ever so I am a total newbie.. Do you just use the percentages Disney does or do you give your own tips? Is it more of a hastle to go to Guest Services to have it changed?:confused3

You're going to see a lot of different opinions on tipping, just like anywhere else. Some people will have them taken off at GS and go all cash, some add to them at GS, some go with standard tips and add cash. Guest Services is typically very efficient and it's never been an inconvenience to me to go there for any changes, so I wouldn't worry about that.

We go with the basic pre-charged tips. If I feel like someone went above/beyond their job, I would tip additional. They will provide envelopes on the last day of the cruise - you can put any cash tips you wish to give in those and hand to the people directly. I know a lot of people like doing this - it makes me personally uneasy and I don't. (I feel the exchange is often awkward, and I'm on VACATION - I don't need that)

DH and I booked for the Inaugural Castaway Cay 5K with Marathon weekend. Soooo excited! Hope we can find the energy to run that 5K!!

Well my husband thinks I'm crazy.....

We are booked on the next leg after this cruise with our whole family, then I saw the announcement for the CCC.

So, what did I do? I booked this cruise for just myself and the rest of the family will join me on the next leg.

I am not a runner, but a walker. I am signed up for the WDW weekend doing the 5K with my youngest son, 10K with my friend who will be joining me with her son on this cruise and the next leg, and will be cheering my oldest (15) on for his first half. I opted out of the half because I will be doing the Glass Slipper challenge again the following month, My kids want to join but can't miss that many days of school. They used to get the Friday of MLK weekend off, but with the new grading periods for next year they will not. Haven't figured out how to get them to and from school (3 kids, 3 different schools) but I figured I had time to figure it out.

I live in Treasure Island, FL (St. Pete area)

Since I don't have the kids this leg I will probably opt out of the FE this time.

I am definitely interested in mixology and the meet n greet

Hello everyone. This is going to be a family event for us. Our 12th cuise and we are bringing daughter and SIL with two sons ages 10 and 4 and another daughter and SIL with one daughter who is celebrating her 10th birthday on the ship and a son who is 7. This is first DCL cruise for my daughters and SIL's. The birthday girl and 7 year old have cruised with us previously and LOVED it. The girl (my granddaughter) was 7 at the time and we had to drag her out of the kids club every night. She would have lived there if she could. One of my daughters is going to run in the sponsored 5K.
Now I have to read through here and see how many kids will be with us. Anyone have a daughter near her age (9) who would want to pen pal prior to the cruise?
Do we have a FE going on?

I just booked this cruise as well due to the Castaway Cay Challenge!!! This will be my second cruise and my mother in law will be joining me. So excited to do the Castaway Cay 5K again and I can't wait for my first marathon. This seems like an awesome way to relax and celebrate :cheer2:

I'm also interested in finding the fb page if there is one...thanks!

We booked this cruise LONG ago before this was announced. It is PIF. How do we sign up for the challenge? I was looking but can't figure it out.

The sign up was on rundisney.com under the marathon weekend tab but it is sold out now, although you will still be able to run it. you just won't get the extra Challenge medal! glad to hear you will be sailing with all of us!

Hi!
I too am doing the Castaway Cay Challenge then heading to California for the Rebel Challenge. I am booked on Delta flight 1659. For those doing the same, what are your plans for getting from the cruise terminal to the airport?? It might be tight so I am hoping to make arrangements in advance to secure transportation.

I'm doing the full Dopey, then CCC, followed by the Rebel Challenge and the 5k, followed by the Celebration Marathon the following weekend.

This will be cruise #6 (as of now...) for me and I love every one so far.

Contact Run Disney and check. It told me they were sold out too but when I emailed them they still had a spot :)

The Challenge is/was only open to those who also ran any race during Marathon Weekend at WDW. It is sold out, but if you qualify for the Challenge, contact runDisney and see if they'll add you. If you didn't run any race Marathon Weekend, you can still do the Castaway Cay 5K, the way you sign up for that is by going to guest services once you board the ship.

BTW, the regular Castaway Cay 5K is free, the Challenge one is $65+ fees, so about $71 per participant, but we should be getting "real" medals. At least I hope we're getting medals....
