Dramamine vs Bonnie?

Another vote for Bonine. (I'm assuming that's what you meant?)

Bonine too. My brother an MD has us all start a couple days before hand, tells me to take at night and just take everynight. Has worked on 6 cruises so far with no side effects.

It seems to depend on the individual. My wife prefers Bonine, but other friends find Dramminine or Meclazine work best for them.

bonine seems less drowsy but BOTH make you dry, dry, dry....in our experience

If you're prone to motion sickness I would talk to your doctor. There's a prescription patch that works wonders for me and it didn't make me drowsy at all. I have tried Dramamine, bonine, sea bands and even a prescription motion sickness medication (phenergen (sp?) and I would still struggle with it at times, especially on rough sea days. Being on those meds always made me tired. With the patch, I didn't have an ounce of sea sickness, even with seas so rough the aqua duck was closed the first 3 days. I saw quite a few others with the little patch behind their ear as well. I've heard it can cause dry mouth and the warning label said it could cause drowsiness but I never noticed that. You put the little patch behind your ear a few hours before boarding the ship and replace it with a new one every 3 days. Super easy!

The Bonine worked great for me! The box says take an hour or so before, a friend told me take the night before...I ended up taking it first thing in the morning on the dat of embarkation. I felt great the entire trip, just a little bit of dry mouth. I wish I had switched from the Dramamine sooner.

Just FYI, I talked to my dr about the scopolamine patch and was advised to try the OTC bonine first bc of the possible side affects of the patch. I'm obviously glad that it worked for me!

Bonine works for me. One pill each day and take it at least an hour before the ship departs.

I have used Dramine in the past and it made me too tired/spaced out to enjoy myself.

I'm a Bonine gal. I always take it when I fly, and although I have not taken it on a cruise, I probably will in January... It's been a few years since I've cruised and my motion issues have gotten a bit worse over the years.

Another vote for Bonine starting night before and then one every night. Tried other options including patch and for me the side effects were horrible, trouble with vision on patch, very drowsy on dramamine.

I prefer Bonine as well however I have found that I need to take only half of a pill now. Even though it's "less drowsy or non-drowsy" they hit me pretty hard like I could sleep at any time. Another poster mentioned they make you dry and I have found that to be true. I would suggest of course asking your doctor but also trying *before* your vacation to see how you react to whatever you choose to do. I take to prevent anything although on DCL in 12 cruises I've never had motion sickness.

My wife and son take non drowsy Dramamine without any problems. After numerous cruises they now start taking prior to boarding and it works great for them.

As a previous poster stated Bonine's active ingredient is meclizine. You pay so much more just for the name brand of bonine. Stop at the pharmacy in Target and ask for "travel sickness pills", that's exactly what the bottle says. You get 100 for like 5.00. It's active ingredient is meclizine.

We have used Meclizine HCI 25 mg for years. Works great even on the one kid who gets motion sick really easy. We start the day before we travel and take one pill each day.

Super cheap bottle at any drug store.
