Has anyone done this before? I have to finally change out my water and clean my pool but I have never had to completely drain it out before. I know how to get the water out, but what should I clean it with? If I use something sudsy then how would I get that rinsed out? If anyone has any good tips or recommendations I would love them.

We have an above-ground pool and were told to NEVER take all the water out. It will collapse and/or the lining could get ruined.

Why do you need to take the water out? How big is it?

I've done this a couple times with no problems. I just drained it out and then used water and a wet vac. Did the sides and floor. Refilled and it looked beautiful!

We drain our above the ground pool every year. We hose the walls and floor down and just brush the dirt down to one end and use a sponge to get out the very last bit of dirt. Then we start refilling immediately. You don't want the sun to beat on the liner. It takes us just about 20 hours to completely fill.

Well we didnt get it properly closed last year because our cover was tore up and didnt get a new one soon enough, so there are tons of leaves in the bottom and it just all sorta turned to muck. We have never changed the water out ever and the pool is roughly 8 years old, maybe older.

I spoke with the company thats going to refill it and she told me I have to leave at least 6 inches of water in the bottom. I guess what I could do is pump out the nasty water and then do like the one poster said and brush all the muck to the end and clean it out and start filling with the hose? Ack. I hate muck.

I normally keep my pool so clean you can read a newspaper in it but last year I just didnt have the time nor the money to stay on top of it.

whatever you do make sure you have a plan on how to pump out all that water and where it goes.

Get a long garden hose and siphon it to the storm drain in the street

We are in the country and I have a half acre of just a field behind me that I will pump it to. I would never pump it onto someone else's property. My mom used to have neighbors in the city who did this every year and flooded her back yard.
