In the seventh book the trio break into Gringotts to steal a piece of Voldemorts soul. The dragon guards the highest security vaults and they use it as a distraction to escape once they are detected in an unauthorized vault.

I can't even imagine what an awesome sight it will be in the evenings -- roaring and breathing fire...!!!

Add the wings and we now have a brand new Park icon different than anything ever done. Hats off to them! Well, except for the couple of hundred bucks in Fire-breathing Dragon t-shirts and hats that just got added to our next stay.....

Look at the size of that head! It is as big as the men standing next to it! I read elsewhere that the tail might have some motion....I wonder if it will, and if the wings will move too.

This dragon is so CREEPY looking. This will add in interesting mood to the whole area when you enter from London.

So, I decided to re-read Chapter 26 in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. (I wanted to know what species it was) Here is the description of the dragon they encounter:
“A gigantic dragon was tethered to the ground in front of the barring access to four or five of the deepest vaults in the place. The beast’s scales had turned pale and flaky during its long incarceration under the ground; its eyes were milkily pink; both rear legs bore heavy cuffs from which chains led to enormous pegs driven deep into the rocky floor. Its great spiked wings, folded close to its body, would have filled the chamber if it spread them, and when it turned its ugly head toward them, it roared with a noice the made the rock tremble, opened its mouth, and spat a jet of fire that sent them running back up the passageway.”

The dragon was controlled by Goblins through the use of “Clankers”, a sound the beast associated with great pain. Harry later releases the dragon with a “Relashio” spell and they escape Gringotts on the dragon while Hermione enlarges the passageway with a “Defodio” spell. The dragon later deposits its hijackers and flies off into the sky. So, the dragon atop Gringotts is the escaped dragon from book seven it appears. I wonder if it will roar in such a way as to make the rockwork tremble.

And yes, I am a geek. :rolleyes2

I don't think it will roar however i know underneath it are gas tanks to allow it to breathe fire.

And nowhere in your quote do you reveal the species: Ukrainian Ironbelly. ;)

Looking forward to Labor Day Weekend!

Even seeing the amazing work that Universal has already done with Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, I wasn't expecting the Dragon to look that spectacular. Picking jaw up off the ground. And that's before wings, fire, and seeing it move around...

Yes!!! It's coming so soon!!! What is the likelihood it's all open in aug?!!! Please tell me it's like 95% chance it's open :) it's one of the main reasons I'm visiting fl this year

if it is not open by then, there will be lots of angry homies .......

i think you are safe in that HP2 will be open in august.

And he's a long, long, long abused dragon. :(

(some stuff in fiction I take too seriously, and what the Goblins did to the dragon is one of them...)
