Hello! :) I am new to the boards & I was wondering where I could find info on DP's not hosted by DFTW-I am sure I saw something but now I cannot locate the thread (ahhh such a newbie :/) And if anyone who had one would mind sharing their menu/cost etc....Thanks all! :)

The only dessert parties on Disney property are done through Disney, either through DFTW or through their event planning services.

Let me correct myself... lol I didn't mean "hosted" exactly I meant more not HAVING a DFTW but having a Dessert Party... going through DFTW would be fine...Ugh my words confuse even myself! so sorry!

Lurkyloo has a great page telling how she planned 2 private events at Disney World here: http://disneytravelbabble.com/how-to/private-party/
There are links off that page for her Illuminations Dessert Party and a Tower of Terror Dinner. Very helpful in planning something that is not done through DFTW, including phone numbers.

Hey everyone! I have a question related to this. I'm planning an Escape wedding at Disney in August. I would love to host a dessert party on the night of my wedding but from what I understand this will trigger a $7,500 minimum we have to meet through DFTW which is not practical for us. Is it possible to plan a dessert party for that night outside of DFTW? I know we wouln't be able to wear our wedding attire in the park, but other than that could I get in trouble for not planning this through my wedding coordinator? I don't want to do anything underhanded, but I also don't want to have to needlessly spend a fortune. Help? :confused3

You will have to go through Disney Catered Events so you won't trigger that $7,500. I also wouldn't tell them its for a wedding because they will refer you to DFTW. Just say you want one for fun.
Depending on where you want to have it, the price differs. If you want a Wishes DP at GF, you have a $500 minimum food and bev and a $75 set up fee.
At Epcot, you have to rent a venue (I think the cheapest is $300 for a space for 10), have a food and bev minimum, pay for transportation into the park, and pay a viewing fee for those in your party without theme park tickets.

If you are having a DFTW you have to go through them no matter what. You can try to do it without them finding out but do you want to risk that.

Plus, by the time you add a DP (especially in a park) you'll be spending almost enough to hit the $7,500 anyway. Even if you can keep the DP costs down, the difference probably won't be enough to consider it a "fortune"... :thumbsup2
