Hi.. I am a WDW vet...but am going to disneyland in NOV. I was there last year and stayed at Disneyland Hotel...this year would like to try GCH...how are the downtown disney veiws? are they worth the extra money...I love to sit and watch people on my balcony....i am just wondering how noisey it would be??? any info on the GCH would be great...

thanks...amy

We stayed at the GCH just last week and had a Downtown Disney view. We loved it and I'm about to make reservations again for November. :yay:

Yes, it was noisy....but it was "fun" noise if that makes sense. We could hear music playing from down below but that's really about it. Also, we had our sliding doors (stayed in a suite) open for the most part...when we shut them the noise was minimal and stopped around 10ish every night.

Another thing about the Downtown Disney view that I loved was that we could see the fireworks at night right from our balcony.

Well, we have this view for our reservation in October. I can give an update then. :thumbsup2 I don't know the exact cost, as we used DVC points.

Thanks for the updates..my DD wants to stay at disneyland hotel again...but I really want to stay at GCH..Downtown veiw sounds great:thumbsup2 ...I hope I can book it....we are also going to use points..we are DVC members also....:cool1 thanks...again amy

I've had this view several times and my view varied from a pleasant one over the Jamba Juice store with the violinist playing down below, to over the WOD store where I had a pretty ugly view of the tram loading area. I've learned to request to be in the building that you enter through the lobby area, not the Napa Rose area, and I prefer to be above the 3rd floor. Now I usually prefer a theme park view, or a standard view(courtyard), I find those a little nicer.

I also had the poor experience of having a balcony full of cigarette butts and dirty diapers on the rooftop just below when I had a downtown Disney view, but have always had nice clean balconies in the other two views, hopefully that was just a fluke with the dirty view.

We booked a DTD view the end of April. Our room looked over a patio and our view of DTD was blocked by hanging planters. Also DTD was way off in the distance- we were way behind the storefronts. Hard to explain but definitely not able to people watch at all. I was very upset and called the main desk. We were changed to a pool/park view room that was beautiful! I don't think I would chance the DTD view room again.

We've had the DTD view overlooking Haagen daaz and loved it! It was a little noisy but once we closed the sliding door it was not a problem. As someone already mentioned it was awesome being able to view the fireworks from the balcony!

Last year I had a theme park view, they moved me because I called, I was overlooking rooftops. they changed me to a view of GR in CA and it was great. This time I booked dtd view but chnaged it to a pool view so I hope I made the right decision. I like sitting on the deck and just looking, glass of wine in hand and I am happy.:)
