Downtown LA to Disneyland?

I'll be attending a convention in downtown LA in early February and will be staying at the Westin Bonaventure. I expect to have at least part of a day free and I am trying to determine if a side trip to Disneyland is feasible.

It seems that I can get from the hotel to Disneyland using public transportation, although that translates to an hour-plus bus ride when stops are figured in.

I was hoping that some of the locals might have some suggestions on the best way to get from downtown LA to Disneyland. Bear in mind that it should make financial sense as well. If it involves spending as much on transportation as the one-day pass to Disneyland is going to cost, then it's probably too much.

You can take the amtrak from Union Station out to Anaheim and grab a cab from there!

check with your hotel concierge. there are alot of tourists who stay in the Downtown LA area and sightseeing bus tours leaving daily from major hotels like the Bonaventure, Biltmore, Hyatt, Grand Wilshire & Marriott. these hotels are within walking distance from each other.

You can take the amtrak from Union Station out to Anaheim and grab a cab from there!

An alternative is getting off at the Fullerton Amtrak/Metrolink station and taking the route 43 bus straight down Harbor Blvd to DL. The Fullerton Transportation Center is where you'd pick up the 43 bus, and it shares the parking lot with the train station. This would cost $1 each way. On the other end, you can take the MTA Red Line subway directly to Union Station. Check with your hotel on where the Red Line station is in relation to your hotel. The MTA/Metrolink round trip is $12, but Metrolink trains run only during commuting hours so you might need to go Amtrak in one or both directions.
