Mousesavers has a great rate of $69.00 with an upgrade to a Deluxe Tower Room at the Hotel Royal Plaza. We have always stayed at a Disney Moderate or Dolphin Resorts. Before I booked my August reservation I would like to know if anyone has stayed at the Hotel Royal Plaza and their opinion.

Hope to hear from you guys and please be honest. ::MinnieMo

we stayed way back in 1996...it was a nice hotel...the rooms had just been rehabbed at the time and were very nice...bigger than the rooms you would get in a disney moderate and had a nice restaurant and pool area....the only problem for us is that we stayed there the last 5 nights of our trip after 12 nights at CBR and our family all agreed that it just didn't have that same disney feel to it...had we went there first, Im sure the effect would have been different...BTW: they did have a shuttle to the parks, but, we had our own car so we didn't use it...

I agree, that those DD hotels just don't have the magic quality that on property hotels do. Once ya go on property, ya never go back. :earsboy: :earsboy:

DH & I booked a quickie trip in April compliments of Mary at the HRP. We have always stayed on property and love it, but---at least we will be at WDW! Beats staying at home and doing the chores any day!::yes::

I'm not really so sure about that. At least in our case. Right now I have Pop Century booked for $88 AAA rate (pre-tax). I am seriously considering canceling this reservation and doing the mousesavers deal for the Tower room at the HRP. I think if discounts do not come out from Disney, that this is a great alternative. It seems like a more luxurious hotel for less money. The lack of early entry isn't a big deal FOR US because I can never get my gang going in time for early entry. Plus, I have a whole bag of Mickey soap from our last trip.

I'm also waiting on codes and have considered Hotel Royal. It looks nice based on the pictures, but my gang seems to like newer lodging, no old smells etc.

For now we're booked @ Comfort Suites Maingate East for $53.99/night and have a AAA hold on Port Orleans for approx. $122/night. We'll probably stay with the Comfort Suites, but the location of HRP, the larger renovated rooms in the tower and the $69.00 rate make it very enticing. Sometimes older hotels have more character and charm. Does HRP?

We stayed there about a year ago and HATED it. The rooms were dirty looking. The maids took forever to clean the room (usually was NOT done until late at night...)

My DH and I are staying at HRP in July for our anniversary per mousesavers recommendation. For $200.00 we can get full breakfast for two each morning and two tickets to Pleasure Island and a room with a view and jacuzzi. We ALWAYS stay on property but we are going without the kids this trip and we wanted the convenience of Disney but not the prices! Also, it seemed a bit more romantic, larger rooms, jacuzzi tubs, etc. We can also buy e-ride tickets from this hotel if they happen to come out during our stay. After reading most of the reviews on this board for HRP, I found most were all positive. Good luck with your decision, I hope we've made a good choice. Time will tell! ;)
