Hi all, just found this website a couple of days ago, what a great source of info. Anyway myself and three other lads are going to Orlando in November flying from Manchester Airport. We are staying on Int. Drive and was looking at the nightclubs in Downtown Disney. Could anyone tell me if we need to buy a pass to enter this part of Disney. Any other information you could send my way, basically we have all our days mapped out but we are now looking to plan what to do in the evenings, nightclubs good places to eat etc...

many thanks in return

Hiya, Welcome to the site!

You do need a pass to get into the clubs at DownTown Disney. The area is called Pleasure Island.

Depending on what Disney Tickets you have you may already have a pass.

There are several clubs available at Pleasure Island but I havnt been in them so cant help you first hand i'm afraid. Your ticket in includes entrance to them all. I think it is recommended you avoid Thursdays (CM night) and weekends (locals go out) if you dont want it to be too busy.

Entry to Pleasure Island itself is free, but you pay a cover charge to enter the clubs. A similar scheme operates at CityWalk, Universal Studios' night-time entertainment complex. CityWalk is considerably closer to I-Drive than Pleasure Island, so will cost you less in taxi fares.

You need to be 21 or over to drink in the US and they are very strict. They 'card' (ID) anyone who looks under 30, so make sure you always carry ID. At PI, you will be given a wrist band which tells the bartenders at the various clubs that you have been ID'd. I'm not sure whether this is also true at CW. Everywhere at both WDW and US, they operate a strict 'one person one drink' policy (i.e. you can't buy a round and take it back to your mates - you all have to be present).

Check out these links:

Sorry, also meant to say that, if you're sports fans, you might want to check out the ESPN bar at Disney's BoardWalk or one of the Millers Ale Houses around the area. On I-Drive, Dan Marino's at Pointe Orlando and Friday's Sports Bar (of TGI Friday's fame) are worth a visit. My husband would also not forgive me if I didn't mention Hooters - again, several of them around, including one at Pointe Orlando.

There are several good cinemas around, too, including one at CityWalk, one at Downtown Disney Westside (where there's also a huge Virgin megastore), one at Pointe Orlando (IMAX) and one at Festival Bay, the new shopping complex at the north end of I-Drive (i.e. the opposite end to Pointe Orlando). I'm not sure how old you are, but there's also a Vans skate park at Festival Bay.
