My girlfriend and I are coming to Disney (next week) to get a break from our husbands, two feet of snow and 3 inches of rain. We are staying in Downtown Disney (Hilton) and are looking for a local spa for massages to wash away the stresses of shoveling and cabin fever.

Are there any in Downtown Disney?

Not there, but very close by at the Spa at the Disney Institute. :)

I've enjoyed the Institute Spa several times. The atmosphere is very relaxing; the attendants are friendly; the treatments are soothing; it's a smaller, more intimate spa than some I've tried. Did a number of treatments when I went in March 2000; got a special package with a discounted room rate that included 5 or 6 spa treatments; had to go a few days early to enjoy the spa before the rest of family arrived! It was heavenly! Enjoyed the seaweed body wrap and facial; the massage was great also. I've had several pedicures there; the massage chair is my fav! They used to have some half day and full day packages ... Disney Club gets 15% discount ... DI Spa : 407-827-4455

Another vote for the DI spa. It's really wonderful -- first rate employees. There's also a spa at the Grand Floridian. I haven't been, but I imagine it's also wonderful.

Enjoy!

I have been looking around for spas also and in addition to the DI spa, I understand the Wyndham Palace Resort & Spa also located in downtown Disney has an awesome European spa. I am staying at the Hilton in July and found the Wyndham seems to have a lot to offer. If anyone has anymore info, please let me know.

Thank you all for responding. I think I will try either the DI or the Wyndham.

I've been to the Grand Floridian spa for a 50 minute Swedish massage and it was heavenly. I could barely walk straight once I was finished.

For this trip, I was justing thinking that I wanted something a little closer to where I was staying, although I know the transportation around Disney is excellent.

We are expecting another 6-10" inches of snow in the Washington DC area by Friday morning.... I don't know what I'll do if my plane doesn't take off on time!! Say a prayer!
