Downtown disney security entrance

This is such a dumb question, but in the 4 years we've been coming to DL I am always disoriented about DLR/DCA in relation to where things are in DD.

We stay at the residence inn on Katella. If we wanted to walk to downtown Disney, how would we get there from the west side? I don't think we can just walk up Disneyland Dr, correct? And we can't go through GCH. Where do we get in from that side? Thanks!

Well you are closer to the east side, but if you wanted to go through west side, then head west on Katella, make a right on Disneyland drive, when you get to GCH there will be 2 CMs/guards at the beginning of the path to GCH who will tell you you can't go through, instead you will cross Disneyland Dr there heading west like you are walking to PPH, keep going straight down the path past the parking gates to the little glorietta and then make a right like you are going to DLH, passing the GCH self parking lot. Up ahead On your right will be the DVC building and from there you will see the secuity areas and the start of DTD.

Your best bet is probably still to enter through the East Side and walk through the esplanade past DCA and DLR. This would put you by La Brea Bakery and the WOD Store in DD.
