Downtown Disney: Parking

I'm hearing that the parking lot is a construction nightmare right now at Downtown Disney. How much time do we need to get parked, etc, before a dining reservation? Any tips on where to park?

Thanks!
Jean

Allow 15 extra minutes (over what you'd "expect") and park in the lots closer to the West Side district.

And, :welcome: to posting on the DISboards, sneakyjean!

We ended up having to park across the street from Cirque and to get to Marketplace took us well over a 1/2 hour

We were there this past Sunday, it took about 20 minutes extra to get parked and we too ended up parking over by Cirque to go to the other side, but didn't try other parking lots either. Hating all the construction at DTD :(

So being a total noob, how long should I expect (to which I would be adding the 15 minutes). Thanks!

I'd go two hours early if you were willing to drive around in the lots and look for a spot. If you get lucky, then you can just walk around for a bit.

Oh, man, didn't realize construction was going on. I've only been back on the boards trying to plan for our April trip.

Could someone tell me what exactly are they doing there? thanks :)

We always park across the street at the Disney casting center. (I don't think there is a sign.) It is across the main road from Downtown Disney. I know we then walk across the road.(There is a crosswalk and a walk/don't walk sign.) And we enter Downtown Disney near Planet Hollywood.
It is bascially across the street from where they are constructing the new parking structure.

As far as time goes I would also say that you should consider when you are going to DTD...if you are arriving at 7pm on a Friday night I would say plan for more than 15-20 minutes for sure.

This. It's Team Disney.

We haven't had any issues in the day time. If you're patient and observant you can get a spot by the Marketplace. But evenings are horrible and that won't end until they finish building the new parking tower (which is why all those lots by West Side are closed).

Oh.my.goodness. I think I will steer clear of DTD in April. I like the news on the parking garage though. I've thought for years they should do that but never thought they would.
