Downtown Disney is gone???

I was reading through some threads and one casually mentioned something about DD being closed. I'm so confused. We were there 4 years ago and loved it. The ambience, the comedy club, everything!

Is everything closed? Will it reopen? Why did they do this?

Pleasure Island will be replaced by more of the same for DTD. It is a shame really because, the Adventures Club and Comedy Wharehouse was a true gem. Everything else is still there.

Has anyone heard what exactly they will be repacing all the clubs with? Will it just be all restarants or stores or a little of both. We were down at the Marketplace in January, but it was at night and couldn't see if any construction was going on over at PI.

On the News & Rumors board there is a topic up now & there have been rumors of a Mannequins-type club to open at the current BET location & possibly moving an 8-Trax style club at the old Motions building & of course re-opening the AC asap. No idea about the validity of said rumors, personally I just want my Comedy Warehouse back.

orlando sentinel has reported that harley davidson was looking at mannequins and no further news other than the other clubs will be available as venues for private events for the time being,

They would never close all of DTD. That place is always packed. We were there the week after Thanksgiving and the entire place was total and utter gridlock

Let's not forget the T-Rex Cafe just opened a few months ago and when my family and I walk past there in December it was packed, plus there was a huge line up to give your name for a table.

Wow I hadnt heard it... we enjoyed DTD but the PI area was not our cup of tea so I can see why its being changed... I am guessing with more all ages and family type things

Well, the only thing that's been announced for PI so far is a South American eatery, nightclub, and tequila/wine bar. Not exactly the most family friendly thing. And that's going in to some of the storefronts that were already empty.

I can ensure you DTD is still open. I spent superbowl Sunday there (to avoid the crowds). I even ate the new T rex resteraunt. The new rain forest cafe is what we call it. Same thing cept with dinosaures.

DTD is one of the good things about living so close. I can be there in about 45 min, then spend a whole day there if need be. I like the blues place. They have some good concerts there. My kids love the arcade.

They are putting in a tethered balloon over in the West Side. It will be a new addition to that area, but it doesn't replace anything that has been closed recently.
