We have reservations at the Hilton in DTD, anyone know how far it is to walk to Pleasure Island from the hotel? Do you think it's realistic for adults with good feet & good shoes? How safe?

Also, any other comments or suggestions about the Hilton would be appreciated.

Thanks!

We stayed at the HH in May of 2002 and we will also be staying there in 19 days! We have 2 kids and 2 adults and we had no problem walking over to Planet Hollywood which was past the entrance to PI. I'd say about 5 minutes to DD and 10 minutes to PI. You only have to cross over 1 busy street, if you cross at the cross walks you should be o.k.

The HH is nice, nice clean rooms, nice pool area, hot tub, etc. There is not alot of kids, mostly convention folks. They have some good restaurants and a couple bars as well. I think it's in a great location.

Have fun!

Thanks so much for the quick reply, we'll be there at the end of March, beginning of April. Looking forward to it now! ;)

I posted this same question last week and no one replied so here I go again. We are staying at the Hilton one night before we switch to the Yacht Club. I got a rate of $69.00 a night through Priceline. Here's the problem: We have 5 people (husband, myself, 3 kids) the website says a maximum of 4 people per room. Do you think we will be allowed to stay in the same room? Anyone??????

scottygirl - I also got the Hilton through Priceline and I also have a family of 5. I called the hotel directly to see if a standard room would accomodate 5 and was told that it would. I have the HiltonHonors card and am hoping (against all odds probably) that I will be able to get some sort of an upgrade. Hope you have a great vacation.:D

My kids are ages 2 and 5 and they slept in one bed, and my dh and I in another. I don't know if they'd let you have 5 in the room, unless one of them is an infant. I think you would be crowded in the room with 5 people, especially if your kids are bigger.

Maybe you could request a cot? There would be an extra charge, I think.

Thank you for the reply. We are staying at the Hilton for only one night and my kids are 8 and 6 year old twins. I don't mind being a little cramped for one night, we are staying at the Yacht and Beach Club for the rest of our trip. I will call the hotel and see if a cot is available. We are really excited about our trip, especially when we are looking at 10 inches of snow tonight!!!!

Hey scottygirl, from one Michigander to another!

Growing up when my parents took me and 2 brothers we'd stay off property and pay for an extra cot. Everyone got a place to sleep and it makes it easier than trying to fit 3 kids in a bed, especially after a long drive/flight.

I hear those Aerobeds are pretty nice, too! Have a great time on your vacation!

Good luck tonight with the snow! I sure hope it misses us! :D

Abeyst,

Thank you for the reply. I called the hotel today to make sure we would all "fit" in the room since I purchased it on Priceline. The reservationist said that with Priceline you never know what you will get. He looked up our ressies and it had two double beds requested. I'll request a cot when we get there. The Aerobed would be great, but we are flying and I don't think I'll be able to fit it in my luggage!!!!!!!! Here comes the snow, the kids are praying for a snowday!!!!!!!!!!

looking forward to 90 degrees :smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

We stayed one night at this hotel 2 weeks ago. You can request to have a room upgrade to a junior suite, not a real suite, just a bigger size room with an additional pull out sofa. We stayed there because of priceline also. I am a HH gold member and they also offered free club priviliges to get free breakfast, and drinks and all that stuff. For the price we paid, it was a great value.
