1st time to Disney with my two kids, 4&6, second week in May, staying at WL and will have a car which my husband prefers over using the buses. How long will it take to drive to DTD? Will we save time by driving or is it better to take the bus? Can you make ADR for the restaurants there or is it possible to walk around and then settle on a place - will there be huge waits? Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

It should only take about 15 minutes to drive there, however, if you're going later in the day buses might be better because the parking lot (especially by the Market Place) gets crazy.

There are several counter service type places to eat at. I think you can make ADR's at Capt'n Jack's and Woofgang Puck Cafe through WDW dining. There's also a Rainforest Cafe there, but I don't think they take any type of reservation.

DTD is a really neat place....DH and I always go to DTD the first night we get to Disney, and right before we leave....we always eat at Planet Hollywood before we head home!

Take the buses they are part of the majic of Disney.

I booked a reservation at rainforest and I just had to call them directly.

Here is the link to the DTD page on the Disney site. If you go to dining, it will give you a list of all the restaurants, and indicate where you can and can't make ADRs or if there is a different number to call than the WDW-DINE.

I agree that at dinner time near the Marketplace, parking can be difficult. It is a very busy parking lot!!

It's also fun to see a movie at DTD. It's a great theatre.

Rainforrest is always a zoo :lmao:

I am pretty sure Cap't Jacks takes ressies. Raglan Rd takes them, but not same day. I do recommend both of these resturants, along with HOB. I have wanted to try Bongos, but have not had a chance to lately. I would say it would be quicker for you to drive from WL to DTD. Parking at the Marketplace can be a bear, but if you want to eat at a resturant, there are more of them over on the West Side anyway.

Enjoy your stay!
