Downtown Disney buses

Is it possible to stay at one of the Downtown Disney hotels and use the Downtown Disney bus stop to get to the parks? We're a family of five who is contemplating staying off-site but hate to give up the Disney transportation. Any advice on whether this is possible and whether it is a tremendous walk? And if you can do it, which hotel is closest? Thanks.

There are no busses that run from Downtown Disney to a Park. You can only take a bus to another resort. They stopped running buses from DTD to the parks for this very reason, and people were parking there for free, instead of paying the $14 to park.

Ahh - thanks! That makes my decision process easier!

Um, are you aware that the Hotel Plaza Boulevard properties have their own (shared) bus system, and that those buses operate on an actual posted schedule? Depending on the park and time of day, they run every hour or every half hour.

No - I didn't know that. Thanks!!

Now that raises the question whether there is a list somewhere of the hotels that use this system. Anyone know?

Just be aware..those DTD hotels, that do provide shuttles to the parks, do not run with nearly the same frequency as the WDW resort buses. If I were staying in one of those resorts, I would have a rental car.
When checking out each hotel, you should be able to see if they provide shuttles to the parks. Some are free, some may charge.

These are the hotels that share the buses.

We have stayed at the Doubletree twice. There is a trade off. The buses run every half hour, so they are not as frequent as the Disney buses (and two parks usually share a bus, so you may have to make a stop at another park after being picked up--this bothers me more than the 30 minute intervals), BUT at the Doubletree, the standard room is a suite, so you have MUCH more room. Decide what is more important to you.

When I stay off property I drive in and park at ticket/transportation, (unless I'm only going to one park.) Yes it costs $14, but then I know I'm not going to miss the last bus and wind up paying for a taxi (and a hassle).I also have found it to be much faster. Some of the outside hotels have a limited number of riders per day also.

Don't forget when going to the Magic Kingdom they drop you off at the Transportation & Ticket Center with all the other offsite hotel buses. Plus at Epcot, Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom you are also dropped off with the other offsite buses that are located in a different area from the WDW Resort bus stations.
