Downtown Disney and esplanade early morning question

Was wondering do they totally close off/lock the gates to say to Downtown Disney and the esplanade when the park is closed or can we walk thru to get to the Disney hotels at like 3am? Probably staying at the Park Vue Inn.

I ask cause we are from the east coast so 3am would be our 6am and DS is usually up and ready to start moving that early in the morning. Can we walk thu to the Disney hotels to entertain him. I don’t think there would be much to keep him occupied in our hotel. Just getting him out and somewhere to go would be a big help.

I am 99.9% certain the esplanade is open all night. Once the parks close then security closes but access is open to walk through. In the morning before they set up security, they clear everyone out of the esplanade who might have come in during the night.
