Downtown Disney and Disney Hotel Holiday activities

Hi!
We will be traveling from Phoenix to Sacramento during the Holidays. We have decided to break our drive up by stopping in anaheim for the night. We will not be going to the parks but would like to know of if any fun activities that they may have at Downtown Disney and or the Disney Hotels for Christmas.. I heard Santa may be at the hotels? Anything else we shpould do or see? THANKS!!

Maybe you'd like to book a character meal at Goofy's Kitchen to get a little Disney fix? I wouldn't be able to resist doing a little holiday shopping in Downtown Disney either...

Come join our Disney at Christmas super thread - the hub of all Christmas information and updates. It's a very popular thread! There are lots of wonderful photos throughout the whole thread as well as many Disney Christmas experts who will tackle any number of questions. You don't have to read the whole thread if you don't want to - although many people have found that they enjoy doing so. You can always just pop in with questions. Plus, I've posted lots of information in the last couple of days about what's in store for this season (which begins in 9 days!).

Santa IS at all 3 Disney hotels, but he is mainly at the Grand Californian at night (he is usually at the PPH in the morning and the DLH in the morning/early afternoon). He poses for PhotoPass pictures on one side of the huge GCH tree in the evening, while carolers intermittently perform and take requests on the other side of the tree. A guitarist and pianist play holiday favorites (the guitarist is usually by the fireplace) throughout the night (when the carolers leave). People curl up in the comfy chairs and sofas with treats and beverages in hand and chat with each other. Sometimes people even curl up on the carpet! It's a very cozy, festive environment. The dark wood, dim lighting, high ceilings and overall elegantly rustic feeling of the GCH lobby enhance the Christmas mood and the sense that you are celebrating the season in a very nice mountain lodge somewhere. The only thing that's missing is snow on the ground outside!
