Just got back...we had some good meals (Boma in particular) and some bad ones (Chef Mickey's).

It seemed like the service has gone downhill. The waiter @ Boma was awesome. Friendly and attentive. The same with the waiter @ Biergarten. These were the only 2 (out of 6) people who I would say were good waiters.

The others were rude and inattentive. I have never ever had that before. I was really disappointed. I probably should have said something right then and there, but did not.

The waitress @ Chef Mickey's did not refill drinks (we had to ask several times). And when we asked, it was as if she were doing us a favor.

I love love love Disney and was sad to see this type of unfriendly atmosphere.

I am the only one who experienced this recently?

We found the same. Even the service at California Grill was marginal at best :sad2:

It really really REALLY depends on the specific server you get. The server waiting on the table next to yours at Chef Mickey's may have been excellent, but you'lll never know because you were stuck with the other server.

That is actually quite disappointing about Chef Mickey's considering the only jobs of a server at a buffet restaurant are to take drinks and clear empty dishes from the table.

We continue to have good experiences but I admit that I love Disney and I tend to view everything through rose coloured glasses while I am there.

Disney is no different from the "real world" so I would guess that the experiences we have there are no different from the service we get other places.

Are people becoming less friendly everywhere? I sure hope not.

We are going in September and hopefully the OP just had some "off" experiences. During the last four years we have gone for free dining (and even prior) we have had outstanding service at every restaurant we've gone to with the exception of three. As it turns out, not only was the service bad but so was the food so we wouldn't be going back there anyway.

We could have just had some bad luck...but it still dampened the magic somewhat :(

I know Disney is just like the real world...but when I worked there back in the day (CP-1997)...there were very specific ways we were told to interact with guests...and I guess I just expected that to continue. That is one of the reasons why I love Disney so much...it is like a Fantasy World...and everyone is nice.

We met a woman who was working a character greeting (for Disney Chase cardholders). She was awesome...it was 3 in the afternoon when we met her and she said her shift was 7am-12 am that day and she was still all smiles! :)

I hope others continue to meet people who seem happy to be at work! :)

We were there for 2 weeks and used the DxDP for our party of 6. So, our tip was automatically added to the bill. I can honestly say after, what about 20 table meals at all different places, we did not have one bad server. Our servers were fantastic. The only service related issue I had was with the allergy chef at Kona Cafe one day. The chef was a woman we never saw on our last trip and she came out to the table AFTER the rest of us got our food (while my son had no food). She then went back and told us she'd have his order out in 3 minutes. Well, about 2 minutes later, a server brought out his food, uncooked waffles, barely crispy on the outside and raw inside. Other than that chef, we didn't have any service problems.

Tusker House was another issue, it was terrible but that was an isolated occasion.

:scared1: That's one long shift!

I almost feel like I should hang a copy of this post in the office. Sure puts things in perspective . . . some of us might work relatively long hours but then we don't have to be Disney happy friendly for 17+ hours straight! :worship:
