Downgrading to a Intimate from a custom

So our date is a little under 6 mo. out and my DF is proposing to drop our already planned custom wedding. He said if we do this we can move up the date, get a car and a house and avoid all of the family problems we are having.Problem is we have already signed the contract put down a deposit and had our planning session. Has anyone else done this? Please let me know as we need to act fast.

Hcb0883, I'm sorry to hear that you're going to change your plans. Your reasons are sound, though, and no one can fault you for that.

You need to contact the FTW folks as quickly as possible. I don't think you'll have a problem switching since you are so far out, but, of course, Disney is the only one who can answer that question for you (but look in your contract and see if it's mentioned in there -- it might be).

I did the opposite switch when I was planning my vow renewal. I went from an Intimate to a Custom. I didn't have any trouble switching over.

I wish you all the happiness in the world, no matter how you get married. When my husband and I first married, we eloped. And 20 years later we had a custom vow renewal that was magical beyond belief. Just something for you to think about. An Intimate may be in your future now, but a Custom may be waiting around the corner in a few years.

Another bride on the DIS just did this, but, I'm sorry, I can't remember who. Maybe she'll see this thread and stop by. I'd imagine that the deposit you already put down would simply be applied to the cost of the Intimate, which means you already have a big chunk of it paid!
