Down Day Activities

oh I would love to go to WL and just explore. Like the pp said, a lunch at Whispering Canyon would be so fun! I also like the idea of taking the boat to Ft. Wilderness. Have never explored this area, may have to do this next trip.

I would also think about AKL. I have never been here either, but have heard it is worth a visit. The restaurants are supposed to be wonderful. I wonder if you can see the animals.

Wilderness lodge and Whispering Canyon Café would be fun - beautiful resort!

Just wanted to chime in that there are public areas to see the animals at AKL - and there are animal specialists there that do educational programs, etc. The resort is beautiful, the restaurants are great, and there's even one with a view of the animals - Sanaa - delicious!

Thanks everyone! All of this sounds so fun! This is only my second trip but I can't wait to add many more to try all this stuff!

Another vote for Fantasia Gardens! We had free vouchers in our package booklet at the time (not sure they still do this) but we found it to be a very enjoyable experience. It also wasn't crowded at all, so was a nice break from the parks.

If you're staying at Art of Animation and don't have any other pool time planned, I would definitely take advantage. Their pool is awesome!

Pirate Adventure cruise for our DS, Dine-IN theater at Disney Springs, enjoying the pool at the resort, Ample Hills Creamery on the Boardwalk.

Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Creme followed by a stroll around the Resort is always a favorite of our family.

If you are OK with going off property, hit the Prime Outlets and visit the Disney Character Outlet...may find some cheap souvenirs. Also some great local restaurants nearby.

We have a day planned for our upcoming trip split between Disney Springs and evening at the Boardwalk, where the kids have plans of conquering the Kitchen Sink again. We also like the miniature golf courses on property. On another 1/2 off day, We're planning on heading to FW to see the horses and then to Hoop-De-Doo, which I'm super excited for because I've never been but have always wanted to. Would love to fit the Chip and Dale campfire in to that day because it's also on my bucket list, but I don't think timing will allow. Hanging out at AKL is also in our plans for this trip.

On our no park day we plan on getting to Disney Springs Marketplace in the late morning to go to the Lego store and a couple other shops, have lunch at T Rex, get a few treats from Goofy's Candy Co. and be back at the resort in time for the kids to enjoy the afternoon poolside games and activities. In the evening we may either stay at the resort for the outdoor movie or go to the Boardwalk and walk around and get ice cream.

You will love Disney's Art of Animation! It is a really fun resort. If you have time, hit one of the Disney Water Parks. My family is a huge fan of the Disney Water Parks. If you booked a package, you will have a free mini golf ticket. You can hit Blizzard Beach for mini golf and then hit the water park for some water fun!

Downtown Disney, touring Grand Floridian and listening to the band and piano player, Fantasia Gardens mini golf is whimsical fun, Boardwalk was ok but i have only been during the day and i'm told its more fun at night

We have done many different things over the years. Water parks can be fun, or mini golf. There is plenty to see and do outside of Disney property as well, if you have transportation. There are many gift shops nearby with very reasonable prices. Tons of restaurants exist close to Disney Property with good food, and good prices. If anyone in the family loves cars, Old Town isn't far from Disney property, and they have car cruises several nights a week. On property, you can explore some of the resorts. Port Orleans Riverside has horse drawn carriage rides. Many of the resorts have surrey bikes, and boats that you can rent. You can also go fishing on property (I know Port Orleans Riverside has a fishing dock, and rental gear).
