I would love recommendations for new down/down alternative comforters. Ones that don't shed and are all season. Looking for a King a few twins. There are so many brand options but reviews seem so mixed.

I know nothing about the brands,I got mine a couple of years ago on clearance at MArshalls...it is the most amazing thing in the world! unbelievably warm,I use a duvet cover on it don't have any issues with shedding etc.

I think, we got ours at BB&B. Brand really only matters if you’re worried about the ethical treatment of the animal involved.

Almost all my comforters are The Big One from Kohls. Like a PP said they go on sale for Black Friday. I use them all year long. In the winter I switch between it and a big fuzzy Cuddl Duds comforter I also bought from Kohls.

If you want good quality European down comforters that normally sell at Bloomingdales for big bucks, check out the seller Marceoutlet On EBay. They sell store displays and returns. I have been buying their high quality products for nearly a decade. Read the reviews on Bloomingdales or at Macys so you know what others thought of the quality and performance before buying. Choose a lightweight, low fill power comforter for year round use. I also get great deals on duvets, sheets and blankets from them also. I save about 75% or more off store prices.

A lot of down comes from China now so if that matters to you, make sure to read about the type and origin of the down before purchasing.

My Nana gave me one when I got married that lasted 20 years. No idea where she got it. I replaced it with one from LLBean. You can choose your weight which determines the warmth. No knowing I would move from NJ to FL, I purchased the warmest they had. I can't use it in FL year round, but I did have it on the bed last year from Dec/Jan to March or so.

I bought a target brand (made by design) down alternative comforter for my bed last summer. I really like it.

I had a down comforter. My dog liked to pee on it (wanting to cover the animal scent in the feathers.) I bought an alternative comforter from Overstock around 5-years ago and no one has peed on our bed since. It's a mid-weight and only comes out in the winter. I still have our light quilt on the bed now because PA hasn't decided to want to be cold enough yet. (Not that I'm complaining.)

Any feather blanket has the chance of shedding feathers. They will work themselves out by the pointy end occasionally.

this is good advice...I bought one off eBay years ago (after doing the research) for a great price. In addition to improved quality, I find the higher end comforters have better oversized dimensions that work better on our cal king

ETA- I switched to down alternatives though and prefer them now (better for allergies, washable, stay soft, etc)
