Planning a trip to WDW for December. Because of a good deal on Mousesavers, I'm leaning towards Doubletree as the place to stay.
What I like is that they are suites and double rooms.

Any thoughts on this hotel in terms of location? I'll be renting a car to get around. Taking my 2 & 3 yr olds and waiting in bus lines is something I don't want to do.

Is there something I haven't considered if I were to book this hotel?

Doing past searches on this site, there seems to be some great reviews.

Not sure what rate you have, but I've stayed at both the Doubletree and Bonnet Creek. Doubletree is ok, but Bonnet Creek is much nicer, includes a full kitchen, and has a better location IMO.

I got a great rate there a few yrs ago ($99) and we stayed 6 nts. You will definetly like having a car. Although not far from DD if you don't mind walking abit, with little ones it would be too much. There is the living space with couch( pullout) chair, TV, coffee table and there is also a dining table with 3 chairs. There is a counter with the microwave and a small sink and a small refrigerator. The sleeping area had 2 full sz beds and it's own TV and the bathroom is in that area. The separation between the 2 rooms is a double shutter type door. It is NOT a noise barrier. But if you all sleep in the bedroom that won't matter;) The pool area was nice enough and there is a hot tub. Overall, I liked it, have no complaints and if I got another great rate, would stay there again.

We just returned from a stay at the Doubletree Suites. We were very happy with the location of the hotel. We rented a car and drove everywhere which was very convenient. The rooms were clean and gave us plenty of room to stretch out in the evenings. The kitchenette area was very nice with a microwave and refrigerator with a small freezer, kitchen sink and small two cup coffeemaker. There was a table with four chairs so we could sit down and have a quick breakfast in the morning.

Across the road from the hotel is a shopping center with a grocery store (it was being remodeled and had a very bad selection of foods plus expensive). There was also a miniature golf course, Pizzaria Unos and a couple other restaurants I don't remember. Downtown Disney was still a walk from the hotel but we just drove there in the evening.

We never found time to go to the pool so I have no comment on the pool area. We would gladly stay here again - especially since we used my husband's hilton points and stayed for free!!!

I recently got an email from the Downtown Disney hotels - the Doubletree is showing $99 per night for our dates (Dec 17 - 23).

I am also tempted to cancel my free room at the Dolphin and Swan (split, the Swan is booked the first night) to save my starpoints. To have a suite with microwave is so tempting, at a good rate like this!

I've stayed there one night 7 years ago, but I believe it was recently renovated.

Too tempting!
