Just read on Mousesavers that the pool at the DoubleTree Guest Suites will be closed during part of our stay. We have three avid swimmers. They mention that we will be able to go across the street to the Best Western Lake Buena Vista hotel and use their pool. Anyone have any idea if this is easy to do? Should we be looking at another hotel? We are 2 adults and 3 boys (12,10,8) going April 30 to May 7? Would it be worthwile to ask the hotel for a discount on our rooms given that we are being inconvenienced? Any comments, suggestions welcomed.

Call the hotel directly, not the 800 number. First decide what you want. Do you want a discount? Do you want them to move you to another DTD hotel for the same price you're paying? Is it an easy walk across the street or will the be offering a shuttle bus?

I actually stay at the BW and the pool there is not very large. If there are a lot of other people from the hotel there it can get quite crowded and you do have to facotr in walking across the street eveytime. BW is a great hotel though especially with the disney rooms

Yes, the alternate pool is basically across the road but the traffic is heavy and it doesnt sound so convenient and relaxing to trek to another hotels pool. I know my children would be devastated not having the pool opened during part of the vacation.

On the other hand, if you have your heart on a suite that doesnt leave alot of options for DTD hotels.

The Wyndham Palace in DTD has suites, you might want to check them out.

I agree with the other posters, have in mind what you want....a discount or another hotel when you call the Doubletree DIRECT.

Good Luck

Did you have any luck calling them?
