We need a place to stay 1 night before our ressies in WDW. We would like to be within walking distance to DTD. Both Doubletree Guest Suites and Royal Plaza are listed on Mousesavers, does anyone have any experience with either of these hotels?

DH, DS and I stayed at Royal Plaza the year before the hurricane damage. It has been completely remodeled since then, but it was nice enough when we stayed there. We had a King bed room with a pull out single lovechair bed that DS slept in. The room we had had a soaking tub that was nice to relax in after a day walking the parks. The one we had didn't have the whirlpool, but was nice and deep. There was a separate shower.

Dh & I stayed at the DTDTD last September and will be back this September. We got the Mousesavers newletter rate that had to be booked by February. All the Mousesavers rates seem to have the breakfast included. The breakfast is continental, but you can upgrade for a fee to include hot food, too.
The rooms are nice and spacious. We had a King Suite. The bed had a down comforter and feather pillows and was very comfortable. There is a sofa bed an overstuffed chair and a desk in the living room. TV's in both living and bedroom and a small b&w in the bathroom. There is a small dressing area outside the bath by the closet. The Living area has a small kitchenette with small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, sink and counter space. There is a small dining table with 4 chairs.

Both hotels were nice, but I feel we get more for our money from DT even though it is a further walk to DTD, but you are also closer to the shopping area off 535 which is also within walking distance.

Thanks for your review, Disneyholic. I, too, grabbed the Mousesavers rate and will be at Doubletree on Labor Day Weekend. I can't wait!

I have stayed a few times at the Royal Plaza before the renovations and always had a great stay there. Nice rooms and good layout. We had the jacuzzi tub each time and it was GREAT!

No complaints from either place. If I had to choose, I would see what kind of rate I could get at HRP. They have recently renovated after hurricane damage last year and I hear they are offering some really good rates.

HRP is closer to Downtown Disney should you want to walk. Doubletree will offer you a bigger room (Suite). However, the rooms at HRP are pretty large.
