Hi everyone. Has anyone out there ever stayed at the Double Tree Guest Suites? My DH, DD (10) and myself have discovered that there needs to be a seperate bedroom where we are staying, or one of us will go nuts. Ok, well I will. My dream is to stay in a suite at a WDW deluxe hotel but we just can't afford it.

We love DTD and would be totally happy staying near there. But I have no idea what the hotel is like.

I would LOVE some feedback, anyone? :wave2:

Yup, we stayed there several years ago (1997). I found it to be very nice for the money. Our suite was spacious and I liked having the ammenties of a microwave, fridge, etc. I don't know if they've redone the rooms since then, but the one thing I didn't like was that the bathroom was in the bedroom, so whoever stays in the living room needs to enter the bedroom to use the bathroom. Also, the doors between the living room and bedroom are louver doors and not exactly soundproof!

The hotel was clean, the staff was very helpful, and the chocolate chip cookies were great! LOL

The restaurant was just "ok"...food was eh eh.

Have you considered trying to get a FW cabin with a code instead? We did that two years ago and absolutely loved it!! Quiet, private, FULL KITCHEN...that is a BONUS and a big money saver!!!! We were able to get a cabin in June for $188...considering the money we saved cooking some meals, it was worth it!!

Good luck with your decision.

Have you thought about renting DVC points for a 1 bedroom? This is what we have done, and it's proven to be worth it for us. We're still on property, we have the room that we need, and at a much better price than going through CRO. You could get a 1 bedroom at OKW or BWV (standard view) in early December for around $800 for 5 nights (Sunday-Thursday). That only works out to be around $160/night, plus you get a full kitchen and a washer/dryer in your room. Just a thought!:D

I was going to ask the same question! We are looking at it for a stay in September. We have Hilton Honors points and can stay for free. Last time we stayed at the Hilton across from DTD and wanted to try the Doubletree this time. We like the Suites since we'll be there for 8 nights.

Thanks for the great ideas! OK, so could someone explain what renting DVC points mean? I know absolutely nothing about this!

It sounds like it could be a great idea!

Check out the DVC Rent/Trade board. I think there is a thread there that explains the whole renting points thing. It's not hard to do, and I don't have any problems renting--I'm just not a good explainer!;) Basically you figure out where you want to stay, and how many points it will "cost" (Sat. and Sun nights cost more points). You can typically expect to spend about $10/per point rented. After you figure out how many points you need, you post on the rent/trade board about what you are looking for. I hope I haven't made this sound confusing. Just check out the board. Things are much better explained over there! Good luck!-Danaprincess:

Dec 2004 would be pretty hard to get right now since most of the DVC members go then because the points are lower. But it might not be impossible.

Doubletree Guest Suites was okay at best. Badly in need of refurbishment when we stayed there in June 2003 for three nights. Our rate was very cheap, plus we got Sea World tickets for two adults, so it wasn't so bad. If I had to choose between not going or staying at Doubletree Suites, I'd stay at the suites.

I thought the breakfast buffet (not too expensive) was pretty good, not character breakfast buffet good (reminds me of shoe shopping good on the TV), but still not bad in the least.

The room smelled a little of mold and seemed worn out, needed a good cleaning.
