Ok...I had a free vacation from my company and both the contracted resorts were unavailable for my travel dates, so they have offered me a suite at the double tree at downtown disney. I'm going through that other big hotel thread to search for clues about it, but my computer is slow and maybe I am too. Anyway, if any of you know anything about the doubletree, please let me know...also the transportation to the parks...is the shuttle do-able or would you just drive it?

Thanks!

Hey there....just answered your other post...should have read the newer one first LOL.... if you could stay at the Double Tree in DTD go for it.... I have never stayed there, but you cannot beat the location & it is a big step above the other 2 you had to pick from. The shuttle runs about every 30 minutes or so to the parks...except Animal Kingdom.... I think that one is about every hour... you will share the bus with the other resorts on Hotel Plaza Blvd .... so be prepared to stop about 4 times before heading onto the parks.... that hotel is in the middle of the route if I remember correctly.... so you should get a seat on the bus... I have stayed at the Grosvernor & Best Western and haven't gotten a seat on the bus.... (in peak season). I have also stayed at the Wyndham Palace & the Courtyard by Marriott ...always got a seat.... If you have to pay to park at the parks, I would use the bus..... if you have an Annual Pass that includes the parking ...then I would drive. I have a seasonal pass, my parking isn't free...therefore I use the bus service. Have fun......:wave2:

Sharon, thanks for the fast reply! I did let the travel agent to go ahead and book the Doubletree. We should enjoy that. Like you, we only have seasonal passes, so parking will not be included. I'm hoping it will be a fairly quiet time so that the bus won't be so bad. We have always stayed onsite since we had kids, so this will be an adventure and will allow us to try out the offsite hotel. We had a miserable time at the AllStars in December, so we are definitely wanting to check into other things for our trip next December.

Thanks for the encouragement! And thank you for responding to both posts!!

Have stayed at the DoubleTree and it wasn't too bad. A little old, and a touch shabby, but nothing to fret about. They do have wonderful fresh baked chocolate chip cookies at check in!

It is the "last" resort on Hotel Plaza Blvd. By that I mean it is the furthest away from DTD, but still it's not a bad walk. I hate shuttles so can't comment on that.

You should have a good time and be ok!
