Double stroller or 2 singles?

Taking a 5 year old and a 5 month old in September. Last year we rented a City Mini from Apple Strollers and loved it so much, we bought one! The issue now is what to do for a stoller for 2 kids. I'm sure the 5 year old will still need one because it's just too much walking for a little one in my opinion. I'm just not sure if we should rent a double and if so, would it be too big for the baby? Or, should we just take the mini and another kind of stroller for the baby? Will the mini be too big for him at 5 months? We tried to use it the other day and at 6 weeks, he's definitely not ready for it.

My recommendation is to bring a single stroller and baby carrier. We took my DS (3) and DD (7 months) last Nov and only brought our single umbrella stroller. DS walked as much as his little legs could carry him each day, but when he needed to rest we let him in the stroller and popped DD in her baby carrier. Super easy only needing to keep track of one stroller, and was very nice maneuvering through crowds. Your baby should be large enough by 5 months to fit relatively comfortably in a full sized stroller, especially one that reclines.

Carriers are also great for holding the baby in queues and on rides, discretely feeding if you will be breastfeeding while there, and there is no need to disturb a sleeping baby while getting on and off a bus.

I don't have that stroller - so my recommendation is to bring a single that can fully recline in case baby needs a nap - but one big enough for the 5 year old if you think one is still needed. We had three trips with a 3 year old and baby under 1 and a sling and single stroller worked out wonderfully.

My kids are 12 months apart and our 1st trip to the world I knew we would need a stroller but I really did not want to bring our double stroller - too bulky, couldn't imagine packing it up for the bus, etc. but I couldn't see how to get out of it. The day before we left I caved and bought a double umbrella stroller... LOVED it. Purchased a side by side double stroller that was lightweight, easy to fold up, and kids sat comfortably in it. I would probably bring the baby sling as well as I know my daughter loved being in that thing!

I'm going to get a sit and stand stroller. I have a DS 3 and DD who will be turning 5. Most of the time she will need to just to get off her feet or so we can get someplace quicker. I was going to rent a city mini double, but didn't want a stroller so wide. Some of the different styles can hold an infant carrier. This might be a good stroller for you for other trips as well.

We brought a sit-n-stand double stroller (came with a seat for the back area too). My 3yr old definitely needed it, and we were able to let my 7yr old climb in when we were hurrying from one end of the park to the other (before a fastpass ran out, etc), getting through large crowds easier, if his feet got tired, or if he was getting sleepy at the end of the night.

We've also been to DL when the kids were 1yr and 5yrs, and that double stroller was a life saver, I think pretty much every night my son would be fast asleep in the back seat for the walk back to the hotel.

This is the one we have, it is a little bulky when folded, but not too bad and it folds pretty quickly. Never had an issue with folding it and getting onto the bus and just holding it upright in front of me.
