Double resi/ADR question.

Does anyone know if Disney automatically cancels out 'conflicting' ADR's? I have ARD's on the same day around the same time. One is in a park the other is at a resort. I am hoping to hold onto both until about a week before we travel as I would like to see the weather forcast before we decide. If the weather is nice we will give up the park ADR and go to a water park then eat at the resort. I just want to make sure that one resi (or worse both) will not be auto cancelled.

Nobody really knows. There are lots of rumors around that Disney is either doing this or getting ready to do this. If you're concerned, make the second reservation in another name.

I wouldn't chance it. There are so many reports right now that cancelling is occuring.
Not only is it "not right to hold up 2 places", but it seems that Disney is taking it out of people's hands and resolving this issue.

Nope I wouldn't risk it. I would keep the one I like more and on that day if I felt different change it. But the thought of getting there and it be cancelled....nope not gonna risk it.

Disney can cancel them at any time. They've been known to do anything from picking one and canceling it, canceling both, or canceling everything you've booked. Rumor has it that they will start canceling people who have double booked once the system upgrade is complete. I remember a year or so ago on a different forum seeing a person "crying their eyes out" b/c every single ressie was wiped clean due to double booking policy enforcement.

Personally, I wouldn't take my chances - hold the tougher ressie and drop the other + it's more considerate to just have one for that time and free up space for other people looking to book.

As TDC Nala indicated, there is no official policy right now. The rumor is that the new system will take care of double reservations, but until the new system is implemented in the next few weeks nobody knows.

As of right now the officially on Disney's end there is a window that pops up that warns you that you have two reservations if you try to double book online. You can click to cancel the other one OR you can select to reserve two reservations. As of today the computer will do nothing to this reservation on its own. This may change in the next few weeks, and who knows what may or may not happen to your reservations then?

Also, as mentioned above, unofficially (and this has happened to DISers) CMs have been known to go ahead and do some canceling of their own if they perceive a double booker. They've wiped all ADRs clean, they've gotten rid of random reservations, etc. Because it's a CM who is not acting according to Disney's written policy, it's impossible to know when/why/how any one person will be affected by these cancellations. They also seem to only happen when a person calls in to change their reservations.

I just reserved Akershus at a time I had previously booked at the Coral Cafe and it asked me if I wanted to cancel CC or keep both. FTR I canceled CC.

On the day we fly in, we're using ME to get to the PoP. I REALLY want to do Ohana that night, as we've never been. But I have no idea if the connecting flight will be delayed or if we'll experience delays with ME. Our flight is scheduled to arrive at 4:25pm. Right now I have 2 adrs at Ohana, one for 7 and one for 8:10, 2pp each. What should I do? I don't want to cancel the wrong one and then be out in the cold because we get there too outside our adr window due to delays or twiddling our thumbs starving and tired. I feel guilty that I still have both, but I just want it to work out. Opinions? Thanks.

I just spoke to a CM today to verify my ressies, she knew nothing about the system cancelling doublebookings, in fact she laughed and asked where i had heard it from. She actually told me if i couldnt decide just to make sure i cancelled the extra ones 2 days before we go there !!
After what has happened with the disappearing ressies online i doubt whether they would want more problems. I wonder why these CMs have so many different stories?

After posting this earlier today, this evening I went to check my resi's online and freaked to see half of them missing even trying to search for with the conf number so I called and made sure all my resis were still there and cancelled the ones I would not use. I asked about the one day that I wanted to keep the doubling booking (for now) she told me that double bookings could be cancelled and that I could risk it but I may lose both ARD. I decided to play it safe and cancel one. Reading this thread it sounds like it depends on who you talk too as to what you are told

Personally I would keep the later one as it would be the safer one, in case you are delayed. Otherwise you run the risk of both being canceled. If you really want to try it, go later it is better than nothing.

I'm double booked for a reason - I'm still hoping to get into BayLakeTowers instead of SSR. The CM I spoke with just now said I'd better delete some of the ADRs because Disney will just randomly delete them otherwise!

I don't see what hoping to be able to switch resorts has to do with you double-booking?

One resort is BLT - and the ADRs are for the restaurants on the monorail. The other resort is SSR - and the ADRs are for DTD restaurants.

Here's the issue I have. The current system is all messed up. We can't see our reservations on-line and therefor have to make the call to look them up to cancel them. UGH!! I know that some folks have great LD plans and therefor it's no big deal.

My household uses Cell phone only and calling from Canada costs me about .35/min, with the current wait times it's usually a 20 min call each time I call WDW dining. UGH!!! I will call when I have made final selections - probably this weekend but still, I've been told that if I have the reservation number email I have the reservation. I have been told this by several CMs.

But I am of the opinion that keeping two reservations for the same time isn't appropriate unless absolutely necessary - I can see when it is necessary as well. But I guess it could be made in another person's name in order to avoid issues. It's just circumventing the system though. This can go on and on. Very dizzy now ... LOL

I'm sorry...I just don't see that as a valid reason to be double-booked (I believe there are very few valid reasons, if any). I understand that you prefer to eat close to your resort, but these are just the types of "contigency" ADRs that are way too numerous and why it seems that Disney apparently (and rightfully so, IMO) sees a need to systemically delete such ADRs. Will they actually do it? I don't know that there has been actual confirmation that this is now the official policy. So I guess it's up to you if you want to roll the dice.

It's happened. FYI: most people that have had their ADRs deleted have been after calling in (which probably brings it to a CMs attention).

If you want to be assured an ADR I would cancel one as WDW has been known to cancel double bookings. I would pick the restaurant you want the most and delete the other. I really hope Disney finds a way to get rid of the ability to double book soon.

IMO overbooked ADRs are NOT ok
It keeps others from finding places to eat
