Double Pregnant at Disney

Bring lots of sunscreen with a high SPF and reapply very frequently. Whenever I'm pregnant, I burn so easily.

Is sunburn an issue for most pregnant women? I've never heard that before. I hope not b/c my wife has very fair skin already and she already burns easily, not to mention she is highly allergic to aloe so the best relief she can get is a cool cloth.

How pregnant are they? And how active are they normally?

My wife will be 4½ months and our friend will beraround 3½ months. My wife is not very active and she is already experiencing lower back pain. Our friend is fairly active. (We are worried about our friend the most b/c she had a miscarridege around 3 months in Dec)

I wouldn't worry about a wheelchair for either one of them. Just resting when necessary would be much better. Changes of position from walking/standing/ sitting on a bench to rest would probably much better for their bodies (and also help more with aches and pains) than sitting in a wheelchair. If she has lower back pain, there are stretches that might help or she could talk to her doctor about other things (a wheelchair might actually make things worse because the seats are sling seats like in director's chairs).
For the friend, miscarriages are actually pretty common, so unless her doctor has told her to avoid certain activities, she's probably better staying active.

You can always rent a wheelchair later in the day if it seems like they need one, but they are unlikely to need one and will probably feel better if they are moving around. If they do use a wheelchair, remember sunscreen on the legs - they face the sun when riding in a wheelchair and I have seen some pretty badly burned knees and thighs in people riding wheelchairs.
I don't think pregnant women sunburn any more easily, but it's just another thing to make them miserable.

OK, I just got another dumb question. Does anyone know if they sell saltines at the shop at POR? My wife is still getting morning sickness at 4 month.

POR sells a lot of snack-type foods but I don't recall whether they sell saltines or not. You'd be surprised how accomodating Disney is to find little stuff like that in restaurants or whatever to make your trip pleasant. They definitely want you to have a great trip so you'll return soon. On the safe side, why don't you pack a box just in case?

Re: Sunscreen. There is a good thread going on the Disney Families board about sunscreen. My top pick is Spectra. My dh and dd are part Irish so they burn really easily. My dh says sticking an Irishman in the sun is like sticking a fork in the microwave.

Also, you may want to consider the type of shoes they bring. I remember how badly my ankles swelled in the heat and sneakers would not work. Maybe nice sandals like Tevas, Keen, or some people swear by the Crocs. There are plenty of threads there too if you do a search.

Have fun!
