Double jogging stroller too difficult at WDW?

We are planning our 1st trip to Disney in spring 2014. Kids will be 4 and 5. We will be driving so I was thinking of bringing our double jogging stroller. Will we have trouble getting around with something that wide? I am assuming we wouldn't be able to use the bus and would have to drive to the resorts? Would we be able to take it on the monorail if we decide to stay at one of those resorts?

The kids get out and you fold it to get on buses and monorails, if you can carry it there should be no problem

Which double do you have? We have a city mini GT that fits through regular doorways and folds easily for buses. Can't imagine doing WDW without it.

You only have to fold it on the monorails if its really crowded. I have never been asked to and only a few times did I so everyone waiting could get on.
I have a city elite double. It big but fits through doorways. It easy to push (key when you're pushing it for eight hours) and my girls can nap in it.

It will be hard to get through the crowds at the end of the day if you leave at closing. Also, going into any gift shop at MK will be nearly impossible. They have the smallest aisles there!

A sturdy double stroller is indispensable at WDW. However, using the bus system is horrible. We tend to pile a bunch of stuff on the stroller (drinks, snacks, towels, etc). So taking all that off to fold is a pain. Then having to hold on the the stroller, kids, and all the other stuff while on a crowded bus is a nightmare.

If you can drive, it's easier. Handy when saving spots for parades. Slower to get around crowds like at the end of the fireworks in MK! Some of the boat transportation you have to fold up.

Decide where you'd spend most of your trip and how you're using the stroller. We use it for naps and at the end of the day when they are tired. And of course for carrying all our stuff. We tend to switch from MK resort to Epcot resort so we can walk to a park. We usually only plan 1 day for AK and pack light on those days.

We currently take a sit-n-stand and have been taking at least 1 stroller for the last 8 years. Unlike a PP, we do not have much of an issue with getting on and off buses. DW and I have a routine, I get the stroller(s) and a few bags, while she will take our 2 DDs and maybe a bag. If the bus is already standing only we just move off to the side atthe front of the line and we are first for the next bus (which rarely takes long). I go straight to the back door and stand with the stroller, while DW and DDs get a seat. On the last trip I saw a double jogging stroller that folded very flat and the guy slid it under the bus bench.

Check the dimensions. Disney does have restrictions on strollers, and I've read that some double strollers are too big.

check the dimensions - MOST double strollers are a standard size that is no bigger than a wheel chair- therefore shouldn't be a problem- but SOME are extra wide --- esp if an older model.

i'm a twin mom, so have owned many double strollers and did a lot of research on them- and most are not a problem.

what might be a problem is if it's super heavy for you or not easy to fold/carry for busses, etc --- but if driving not an issue, etc.

we use a double city mini, which is the perfect Disney stroller IMO - size, ease of folding, light to carry (for a double), huge sun shade, good recline, etc.

you won't have issues getting around most of Disney -- sure, it's a pain when in a huge crowd leaving MK at the end of the night- but that's a pain even if you don't have a stroller :)

I had the same question! Hoping to rent the city elite double for my very tall four year old and his younger sister. I just watched a review on it and it looks fantastic except I am concerned about folding it and getting it on the bus. We will have our car but I was not planning on driving all of the time. Do they fit through the bus doors? Also hadn't thought about doing gift shops, is there usually stroller parking nearby the shops? How do you handle that? Disney first timer!!!:rolleyes1

You have to fold the strollers for the bus. And the citys fold pretty flat so you should have not problems getting it through the door.

Stroller parking is a yes/no answer. You can park your stroller anywhere. If it's not a designated stroller parking a CM will just move it to the right spot. Then your problem is trying to find it in the sea of strollers. We go for either a balloon or a colorful towel draped over the top.

For most of the big gift shops, you shouldn't have a problem taking the double inside. It's the smaller shops at some of the Epcot countries, a few at AK, and some of the mini ones attached to the end of the rides that will be difficult.

We used a rented City Mini and our friends used a rented City Elite - neither of us had any issues going anywhere (including gift shops, buses, monorail and boat to DTD). They fold really nicely if you don't have a ton of stuff in the bottom (we managed to actually have some stuff in the bottom and still fold). No more of a PITA then folding an umbrella.

We used it open on the Monorail and once on the boat (other driver made us fold it).

I just wanted to ETA that we were there during the end of March = HIGH crowds. I wouldn't say it was any harder walking with the stroller then without - the crowds were bad there was no way around!
