Thanks for the link Danielle. I looked at the excursions and now I am more confused than ever.

If anyone has been to the ruins in either port, which would you recommend visiting and why?

I also wanted to ask, if you were flying into Orlando on Friday late afternoon (at the earliest) would you try to make MNSSHP and stay at a WDW Resort or just stay at the Hyatt at the airport and relax?

If you go back to post 690 in this thread that is where I started a lengthy description of our DCL tour of Kohunlich. There are even a number of pictures. You'll need to read through 20-30 posts from that point forward to get all of it (I posted in sections and answered a few questions along the way). If you read that and have any other questions about our expereince please feel free to ask away:)

Danielle....it's great to see you and Flower back on the boards! She's so cute, and we've missed you!!! Thanks for all the great info

Hadley....Marika is the young lady of restraint!! :worship:
That's hilarious that you won....AGAIN!! Sounds like you have some fun family time ahead with hopefully no broken body parts!! So did you mention that you just won yesterday or did the DJ or producer remember you?

Lee Anne....excellent news for DS!!! I bet he feels so liberated!

Maureen...thanks for the update on the cabin! Sound like that was a good and unexpected discovery! I got your change noted on the database! :thumbsup2

Donald & Daisy...glad to hear the foot is healed/healing!

Our update: Eyes are getting better...pink eye symptoms seem to be going away. The drops really sting, so 4yo DS is really scared each time we have to do them. But when we're done he yells at the eye drop bottle & that seems to help :rotfl: Directs his frustration & pain towards the culprit and NOT at Mommy!

That's so cute! Yelling at the bottle instead of the Mommy! :rotfl: I'm glad to hear everyone is doing better.

Well, an update on our Snow situation. You will not believe this, but we are literaly on the snow/rain line. It's looking like we will have just a cold rain event, but folks just a few miles west of us might actually get some real snow. I guess it's going to be another - "Quick Megan and Grady, look at the TV! It's snowing in the next town." I'm going to rewrite the Snow White song. Instead of "One Day My Prince Will Come" it will be "One Day My Snow Will Come!".

Our school system has called for a 2 hour delay tomorrow. Although the school systems that are actually in the area where snow and ice are predicted have not said what they are doing yet. I guess we'll have waffles and Hot chocolate in the morning and then it's off to school in the cold rain.

The worst thing is that Monday the low temps are supposted to be 14! :scared1: A dry, cold and windy 14.

Hadley - Can we get a picture of the snow when you take your ski trip?

Have a nice evening everyone!

Tiffany

UGH! No snow when you can almost taste it??? That totally stinks!! Here's to a couple of degrees more of bbrrrrrrrrr pixiedust: :cold:

So speaking of MORE crazy weather, this time to the extreme of 2 weeks ago...

Saturday we are expected to have a low of zero and a windchill of -20 degrees!!!!! Yes. That would be Fahrenheit, mon amis!! I'm picking my grandmother up at the airport late afternoon on Saturday after from her 2 weeks in Florida. I don't recall dropping her off with anything but a fleece jacket, so I'm going to have to bring a coat or blankets for her to get in and out of the car.

Thanks Kimberly! It might be working! I'll let you know in the morning. Stay warm! I bet your Grandmother will wish she was still in sunny Florida on Saturday!

Erik, I don't think anyone has gotten update reminders since the move to the bew server. I know mine are gone. It does make it hard to keep up.

LeeAnn--We will be at MNSSHP that night if that is the nigth it will be offered. So will Erik and Jsaon I believe. We have never been and they are so excited about it.

So guess what???? I just won more ski tickets on the radio!!! Hee-hee, the DJ said it was okay to call/win again without waiting but I still feel kinda silly. I am NOT callin hte rest of the week:flower3:

Congrats !! :cheer2:

Most of our stations Tell you 1 win for every 30 days.. :snooty: Is it a smaller local station? Maybe they need the Listeners participation :confused3 Either way Congrats!! I love winning stuff of the Radio.. Too bad I always sound like an idiot when being interviewed.. :scared:

We're supposed to get 1-2 inches of snow today, then it's supposed to turn into icy rain. I've seen nothing so far. What do you think my chances are of getting out of practice tonight? Doubtful I suppose.

Maybe we're all thinking about Florida and beaches too much for the snow to actually come to us. :upsidedow

Ooh, which resort? We went to Mt. Cranmore (which is nearly in town North Conway) for our anniversary last year. Sorry that you are in the flatlands (and yeah, I know just how falt--as a kid MOm and I would drive from Boulder, Co to Marshall, Tx to visit faily every year and Kansas was FLAT:rotfl: ).

It was King Pine. We were both on a learn to ski weekend. We were in line for the rope tow on the bunny slope. I didn't realize that the front of my skis were on top of the back of his. When he grabbed the rope, he went face first in the snow. When he started talking with that Southern accent, I just melted. It's all history from there. lol He lost the accent somewhere in Vietnam.:confused3
I've got to take a road trip next week to New Mexico to see my dad on his 90th birthday. It'll be flat and boring the whole 10 hours.

Oh I love that story:love: Thanks for sharing!

Marika scored big last nigth. The nieghbor's 13 year old niece was out visitng from Southern California last spring and she and Marika hit it off pretty well. And, we were able to loan her a coat (it was a bit small but okay) when we got a late spring snow storm. So, when Marika went to babysit at the nighbor's last night they gave her a box of the nieces outgrown clothes that had bee nsent for Marika especially (how nice was that?). I don't think anythign in the box has been worn more htan once or twice. Marika lieks almost all of it, though she says it is very "teenagery" which feels "kinda wierd":rotfl2: Everything single item in their is either Abercombi, Hollister or Hurley. Marika has no idea what the brands are and really does not care; it is just wasted on her:rotfl2: She doesn't want the three pair of Hollister jeans which fit her propery, but are designed to be tight ("I never understood why anyone would want to wear those!"). But, she is planning on passing htose along to her friend Haley who does like such jeans (and will know that Hollister jeans are pricey and oh so trendy at the momnet). I am imagining the conversation between the tow girls now:lmao:

I worte a really LONG post earlier this morning which I just realized did not show up?!?! Odd!:confused3

Anway, the short version is everyone please get well and I am glad LeeAnn's son has the cast off, and yelling at medicine bottles is very cute. Also, Kimberly enjoy your grandmother's visit and try to warm the air up a bit before you send it this way:rotfl: Finally, Tiffany I hope the snow line moved to you being on the snow side and here are some snow photos of the mailbox and house on January 2 (we only have about half this much now):

Hey guys! I've been reading and chuckling at all the good stories, but not really posting because I was coming up empty on things to say that hadn't already been said.

I do have this... We cracked and booked a long weekend trip to the Big Easy (New Orleans!) for a good friend's wedding. I'm so looking forward to the break, the good food, and hugging people's necks! It was pretty hard not to book La Pavillon, but the nice people there made it easier by making the per night price almost DOUBLE other hotels. Still, I keep trying to finagle a way to at least stay a night there. *chuckle* The bad part is the trip isn't for a couple of months, which will keeeeeelll me! :rotfl: I -need- some Cafe Du Monde; my friend has been gloating for months he can just run down to the corner if I need some--oops, Brandie, you aren't IN my town! So Sorry for Yooooou! :rotfl: Yeah, he's a Punk. It doesn't matter that I can get beignet mix at the grocery store, it is the fact of being IN New Orleans with a plate of messy beignets and a 3 year old to share them with that I am looking forward to. DH can't eat them and can only watch us with horror as we get gloriously sticky with powdered sugar. That look from him is the payoff! :thumbsup2

So yeah, it's frigidly cold in Denver, and it is going to be that way for at least another week. Yippee.

:rotfl: Have a great day and stay warm! Oh, and those of you in Florida--try to stay out of the rain! *grin*

Brandie

Brandie,
We're also going to New Orleans for our friends' wedding. We're going February 21-25. I'm also definitely looking forward to some beignets and good food. Neither of us have ever been. Any suggestions?

Oh, and BTW, it is Snowing!! Doubt it will last...or stick.

Well I just finished writing my dreaded 2008 professional goals and objectives. Somehow "getting swept away at Castaway Cay" with a target date of September 28 didn't quite look right. I don't get it. It FEELS right. :confused3

Brandie and Danielle.....I hope you have a great time!!! You mentioned Cafe Du Monde, Brandie. If you haven't been there before, Danielle, just make sure you don't need to cough as you eat your beignet.....unless your husband looks good in white! :rotfl2: (You'll understand when you get there!) VERY yummy though!!! Don't forget the chickory coffee, either!

Moreover, you CANNOT go to New Orleans and not stop by Aunt Sallie's!!!! It's just a few doors down from Cafe Du Monde. Their fresh prailines are THE BEST!!! I'll buy them a couple of times a year and have them 2 day-aired up to Ohio. My co-workers LOVE when I make that purchase! They have other great products like a pecan maple syrup. It's a don't miss and it's enjoyable to see them make a batch in the copper kettle at the storefront window.

Hadley....I love the very snowy pictures around your home!!!

CS... Great love story there!! Very sweet! Thanks so much for sharing that warm fuzzy!

Haha, thanks for the advice. I'm sure he won't want to be 'snowed on' while we're there. I'll definitely make a note of Aunt Sallie's. We both love pecans, in any form. They might be off my diet though. That's the thing about vacations though.

:lmao: You got it!

Hi All!

Hadley - Thanks for the snow pictures! We did not get a thing! Well, we did get a lot of rain - very cold rain! I'm going to watch the news this evening so I can see who did get something (other than rain). Perhaps we'll have better luck next go around. . .

CS - Your story is great!

Brandie - I've never been to the "Big Easy" before, but love the food! We had a little restaurant in town for awhile and the owner was from there. The food was great, but he moved his business to a bigger town.

Have a great day everyone!

Tiffany
