Kimberly, I hope you feel better soon!

I'm going to not say anything about football or LSU winning. I went to Ole Miss (and worked for MSU and USM), so I think people will understand! :rotfl2:

Kimberly........Feel better real soon:flower3:

We are having crazy weather here in NY also.....temp is 63 today with the same forcast on Wednesday:yay: :yay: :yay:

charlie:woohoo:

We had thought about going to MNSSHP on Friday night, but that would mean taking off on Friday and having the kids miss 1/2 day of school. They are already missing 3 days and that is alot in HS.
We will probably fly out of JFK Saturday morning too, but we are toying with the idea of going Friday night and staying over at the airport hotel just to be on the safe side.

What airline to you fly?????????

I'm waiting for JetBlue to open up but looking for the best $$$$$:surfweb:

charlie:woohoo:

Temps are high in NC too! My car said 75 when I went to pick up Megan from school today. It was down in the teens last week? Go figure?

I booked our pre-cruise hotel today!!!! We are staying Friday night at the Contempoary and going to the MNSSHP (that is if when they announce the dates for 2008 and Sept 26 is one of them!!!)

I haven't told anyone here yet because I want it to be a suprise. I can just hear the conversation in the car, "I know the port is to the left honey, but let's go to the right instead!" I'm sure I'll have to let the cat out of the bag before then.

I've never stayed at the Contempoary before and am looking forward to it!

I do have a question for those who have recently parked their car at the port. What was the total cost and did you feel your car was safe? I just want to have this expence in the budget ahead of time.

We are also booking a land/sea vacation for December of 09. I was looking at the prices the other day and even DH couldn't say no. (I just love planning ahead!)

I just go on here to catch up and say hi to everyone. I'll try to come around more often now that the holidays are done.

Have a great day everyone!

Tiffany

Drea-- Just last night my neighbor and I were talking about her husband's upcomming trip (both our DHs tend to do a lot of work related travel). She was saying it is okay because it is only for two weeks. We have both discovered that up to two weeks is okay, but into a third week is just too hard for us and the kids. I can't even begin to imagine what it is like for you to have your DH gone for soooo long and to have the constant worry about his safety to boot. THANK YOU BOTH for all you are doing for our country.

Kimberly--I hope you feel better soon. It hit 60 here today as well (in New Hampshire in January?!?!--I am not ready for mud season). I won't coment on the sports stuff either, but for a different reason than Brandie. I couldn't even follow what you were talking about:lmao:

Tiffany--Good to see you!

Okay, so Iahd a GREAT day! WHy???? Becasue I took the kids to lucnh at Wendy's and a dear older lady came up to me as I was dumping our tray and told me that my little brother was so cute and she thinks it is so sweet of us two teenagers to take him out like that:rotfl2: God I wanted to hug her. I think she was serious too:yay: (yeah, yeah I know her eyesight is probably going but I am going to be happy about it any way:upsidedow )

Wow! Lots of crazy weather! I guess I haven't been tuned into the news this week.

Kimberly........Feel better real soon:flower3:

Awe...Charlie sends flowers! :flower3: Thanks!

I appreciate all the well-wishes. I never made it back to bed this morning and decided it would be a favor to my collegues to just work from home. I did get a nap in at noon that felt like 3 hours of sleep. :faint: No doctor's appt until tomorrow morning though. :sad1: I just realized 10 minutes ago I've had nothing but a piece of cheese and some hot tea today...and my fever is coming back. So one more lousy night. I know I have it easy compared to so many of you with the sick kiddos!

Drea-- ....THANK YOU BOTH for all you are doing for our country....

Okay, so Iahd a GREAT day! WHy???? ....a dear older lady came up to me as I was dumping our tray and told me that my little brother was so cute and she thinks it is so sweet of us two teenagers to take him out like that:rotfl2:

AMEN to the thanks to Drea and E (and the two DSs)!

You *DID* have a great day, Hadley! That's awesome, you lil sis! :cutie:

I booked our pre-cruise hotel today!!!! We are staying Friday night at the Contempoary ....

I haven't told anyone here yet because I want it to be a suprise....I'm sure I'll have to let the cat out of the bag before then....

:woohoo: Isn't that a fantastic feeling to have just one more detail around your trip solidified?! That would be so sweet if you can keep it a surprise up to that point!

Well, I'm off to find soft foods for the throat and get my jammies on.

ttfn

Hadley: I think I would have hugged that lady! :thumbsup2

Kimberly: What about yogurt? It's nice and soft!

Tiffany: I want to say the port parking is like $12/day. The DCL FAQ should have better information.

We usually fly jetblue to MCO...maybe we will even be on the same flight!
Still have to decide whether to fly down Firday night or Saturday...not sure...would love to do MNSSHP.

Kimberly....feel better! Just rest and drink lots of fluids. With the weather as crazy as it is, it's no wonder everbody is getting sick.

Drea - God Bless You, Your Family and Your Husband!

Hadley.....a teenager!! What a way to make your day!

Tiffany - how were the rates at the contemporary? We stayed there many, many years ago....I still love the monorail (my kids say it's my favorite ride). I don't know if we will be able to wait until the MNSSHP dates come out to book our airflights so we may have to pass this time around.

Hello all, just checking in.......

RKandMJsmommy and I took our DD's to see Hannah Montana in Atlantic City Sat night! What a great show! I think I had as much fun as DD. I still can't believe I landed those tickets..........we were in the first row on the side of the stage. It was awesome!

Kimberly, I hope you feel better soon. It was in the 70's here today in PA. CRAZY! But great since I got to get a long walk in at lunch today......need to slim down to get into that bathing suit in 262 days!

Drea, Thanks to your husband for keeping us safe and you for being the good wife and mother while he is away!

Crissi

Drea, thanks for your sacrifice - I know how hard it is - been there done that when my boys were little. Hopefully the time will go by fast with your cruise planning!

We are getting huge Winter storms here with lots of snow and ice - we usually get only a little and then it melts - 4th day of storms with 2 more to go - get ready midwest!

That would be great....I'm traveling w/ a LARGE group and I think they have changed their plans and will fly down the morning of!!!!:confused3

We always fly JetBlue from JFK keeps the kids happy with the TV's:cool1:

I just checked thier website and they still have not opened up that week:mad:

We have done both----arriving the nite before and the day of...so either way is fine:lmao:

charlie:woohoo:

Oh yikes, Tammie! Ice is never good, and when you're not accustomed to either element, that makes it just that less fun. Stay safe!!

Crissi and Denise, I'm so thrilled you had a great time...oh yea...and that the girls did, too. :)

I forgot to mention yesterday a congrats to Hadley and Brandie for their LSU win. I'm sad, but I'm a good sport about it. ;)

So I got back from the doctor's office this morning. Indeed he said it's "full-blown strep throat". He even had his intern come and look. :rotfl: So I'll be on 1500mg a day of amoxicillin (2 in the morning and 1 at night). He said I should feel better pretty quickly, which is all I want! Thanks again everyone for the advice and good wishes!

Oh yeah.....those on the east coast enjoy your last day of warm weather. It's back to 45 degrees now. It was so nice to have the patio door open until I went to bed last night!!

Well I'm off to my soft foods and then off to the pharmacy to pick up my meds. Have a great day everyone!!

*pssssst* Ole Miss and all Mississippi universities are historically rivals with LSU... Ole Miss especially... :rotfl: Salt in the wound, Kimberly, salt in the wound!!! :rotfl2:

I hope you feel better soon, Kimberly!

MAGICFOR2: It's clouding up here, but the metro area should only get a dusting... so they say... maybe I should turn on the weather! This morning, the mountains were forecast another couple feet of snow! They said Silverthorn, CO had gotten 200" this winter already! Zowee!

Crissi: :cool1:

Crissi - My daughter went to the Hannah Montana concert in Portland, OR back in November. It was her first concert ever, and she absolutely loved it. She had a Hannah Montana themed Christmas this year....you can find ANYTHING with the HM name on it (clothes, purses, jewelry, bedding, school supplies etc.)

Drea - You must be one tough lady, to be able to keep the household running by yourself for so long. Your family is in our thoughts, and I am sure the hubby will be back before you know it.

By the way, I am just a little bit jealous of the warmer weather some of you have been having. Nothing but wind and rain here.

So, I hear a lot of you talking about college football. Isn't anyone excited about the NFL Playoffs? This Saturday, our team, the Greenbay Packers play the Seahawks! My husband is a life-long, die-hard Packers fan. Let me put it this way: Sunday is a religious day in my home, and it's not because we go to church :rotfl:. I have a cute wooden sign that I put on my front door that says "We interrupt this family for football season" and sadly, that is no exaggeration :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Well I finally made it back on the baords after an absense of, oh, I don't know, six months. Anyone care to bring me up to speed on what I missed? Apparently is was only 4 or 5 thousand posts.

Couple questions since I am at work and can't read through too many posts (sorry if these have been covered recently):

Are people starting to book flights yet? I was hoping fuel costs would come down a bit, but looks like that is unlikely.

Are people booking hotels for the night or two before the cruise yet. I did see one note about a family booked at the Contemporary and that is why I am asking. Should I be doing that already? Our group has 7 cabins and we are all starting to get execited now that we are in the same calander year as the cruise.

I am going to try hard to start reading at least this thread regularly again, but life is so hectic these days.

Post #577 is the Rosetta stone for all the information we've compiled. We also set up a website at DISDoubleDip.com just for this cruise.

We're holding off on booking hotels and airfare just yet, because flights from Denver are about $400 right now. We'll be flying in the Friday before the cruis and flying out the Sunday after the cruise.

Hope that helps!
Brandie

Hello! I am new to this thread. DH, DD, and I will be on this cruise. We live in RI. I am trying to find out if anyone else lives in/near RI and is cruising with a little girl who will be in the 5-7 age group kids club. It might be nice if my daughter had a friend in the kids club before we cruise since she is an only child. She is very outgoing and likes to make new friends. Sorry if this info is already out there. Search is not working for me right now. Can't wait for Sept!

:wave2: Hello, Emily's Mommy! Welcome to the Double Dip Delight Family! I hope you just hop right in and feel like part of our family!!

Our thread has quite a busy bunch of chatters! As the Cast Roll Call List keeper, let me suggest that you check out Post 577 (link in my signature) to see if there's anything else listed there that you would like to share about yourselves. We also have a website, which is linked in my signature.

I do have a database with all of those who have registered with us here on the DIS, and I'm sad to say there are no girls fitting the demographic you mentioned. In fact, your family is the first from Rhode Island! That brings us up to 30 states in the US represented as well as 3 other countries! I also looked for families in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Unless we have some lurkers, we do not currently have CT represented here. There is one family in Massachusetts, but they have a four year old boy.

Not knowing Emily's specific age, I took the liberty to look up the number girls we have registered in the 5-7 yr old range. There is a kids' meet that just got off the ground this week as well that is closely monitored on our Double Dip website. Just send a private message to Fizzgig (Brandie) on the DIS or on the website, and she'll get you set up.

  • six other 5 yr old girls + Doug46 has friends joining us with a 5 yr old, however, I don't know the gender
  • four other 6 yr old girls + three other 6 yr olds of an unknown gender
  • three other 7 yr old girls

Finally, Post 577 is also a good "go-to" thread to see what kind of activites we've been talking about. If you have other suggestions, please share!!! For some of the activities that may make you say "Hmmm...what is that?!", I tried to add links to other posts that discuss it. Certainly ask if there's anything you want to know more about. This post also has info about locating our cruise logo so you can use it for door magnets, your siggy, or whatever you choose.

Hope to see you chatting with us!
