We had to get passports in a rush for a business/pleasure trip to Paris for kiddo's first birthday. We took everybody in to a Passport office with a copy of our itinerary and got DH's and Fiona's passports in a matter of a week.

If you live in a major city, you might want to check into using a Passport Agency, versus a Post Office. You have to have both parents there when you apply for a child's passport.

We got Fiona's passport pictures at a Wal-green's. DH does not remember that as a positive experience.

Walgreens? I imagine Fiona could sit up by then? That makes all the difference. Marika's was at Kinko's when she was 8 months (she could sit on the stool). We ended up at Penny's for Rio--they had the right lighting and background for him to lay against but hety also said few Penny's do (this was 8 years ago so who knows these days). Anyway, it is info to be aware of.

Puts a high bar to live up to in theory, but oooh, wow, Fiona does NOT like France! December in France was freezing cold, she wouldn't touch any solid food, and she and I did good to get out with the stroller (and all the stuff that goes with a 1 year old and a mommy in a foreign country.) On a good note, I caught up on all my sleep I was missing, and we saw Tuileries (and had a Croque Monsieur) and the Louvre (she liked the marble statues and the chance to nap, while I looked for the last sign to take me to the next lift--they always hid the last sign! ).

I got her a chocolate crepe for her birthday... She was not amused. I got a marzipan bunny (which she refused to share) and she viciously bit off its head!!! I have video of her refusing to share that is hilarious.

The only food she would condescend to eat had to take at least a half hour to procure, after much hardship. If it was easy to get, she wouldn't eat it. She would tackle me for fresh yogurt and bananas, though.

And oh my gosh the stinky cheese was STiiiiiinkY!

DH & I tried for years to have a child together, but it just is Not in the cards for us so we moved on and spoil my son from a previous marriage & all our friend's children instead.. Plus we get to take extra cruises & had a 2nd home built in Florida

I think an infant won't be all that much trouble except for excursions and I hope you all do get to keep your reservation and cruise with us..

As for the Passports.. I'm sure by next year they should be back to regular time frames..

We need to get our DS (17) now, an Adult passport right as he turns 18 in May.. No sense in getting one now and again after May..

just back from Eastern 29 Sept 07 (had a great time) and booked again for next year on double dip. Have been reading the boards for along time and got loads of good tips etc for last cruise. Noticed all the Disboard door signs this time and thought it would be good to get in touch - have two children girl who will be 7 and boy who will be 4 next time and they didnt get really involved in kids clubs due to not knowing anyone. Maybe could join some meets on cruise or in WDW the week prior.

Have been DVC members for 5 years and all just love WDW.

If anyone has any info regarding this get in touch or ill trawl through the great number of threads

I have a question regarding the DCL Transfers........we are going to stay at POP the night we get back from the cruise..........I asked DU if the DCL Transfer would take us there and they said that POP is not on their route.
They did say that they have heard that they may take you there for a nominal fee sometimes but they could not say for sure..........anyone have experience with this? I would not be able to stand it not knowing if they would take us over to POP for sure..........

I think we may go with a FL tours van instead.

I heard that you guys had a pretty rough cruise weather/wind/wave wise. That is great that it didn't bother you! You are definitely tougher than I am .

Where do you own at DVC? We are members also and own at VWL. We are going the week before and will probably try to stay in a GV at OKW for a family reunion. We would love to do a meet. I don't remember seeing that info addressed in the plethora of posts, but I may be wrong.

Anyone see that info posted (about meeting at WDW week prior)?

dont know whether i saw a post re meet in WDW or just hopeful.

We own at Beach Club and Vero Beach and hope to be staying at Saratoga Springs or OKW. Dont own at either but have been at both - OKW more - but like the childrens activities at SS a bit better. Spent a week there and one at WL this year before and after cruise.

Dont know about bad weather on our cruise - seemed light compared to what we're used to here in Scotland.

Hope we can arrange something re meet before cruise

Hey there everyone! Sorry I haven't been too active this past week. I assure you I've been reading to keep up. I've been on vacation this week (and sick unfortunately), so I haven't quite been in my normal routine. So I have lots to update you all on....here's the first, which is pretty cool!

My wonderful TA just emailed me he's got a Cat. 5 he'd be happy to give me... for a small price! I can upgrade mom's Cat 11 to Cat 5... Not happening!.......

Brandie's TA, Greg, reached out to me on the DoubleDip09-2008 Hotmail mailbox and stated that he is going to be on-board with us. He and his family are very excited to go. In support of Brandie's thoughts about her wonderful TA, he told me that he is going to have magnets made up with our logo! That's very generous of him, I think! He'll likely pass them out near Erik at the port so when you pick up your lanyard (remember to register with me to get one for each member of your family), you can receive a magnet momento as well.

I may have missed some of the earlier posts, but am I to understand that you (nenner1) are pregnant and are planning on going on the dd in sept 2008?

My wife and I just found out she is pregnant too (just before we went on our last cruise last week).....

I already privately congratulated Jen, so Jim, let me congratulate you and Maureen as well!

I do think the passport offices are already out of their heaping backlog. I mailed my passport renewal at the end of September. From the time I mailed it to the time it was back in my mailbox, my non-expedited renewal got to me in exactly 2 weeks. Other threads I've read have also indicated the turnaround has been relatively quick for brand new ones. As already mentioned, the biggie will be getting that Social Security number quickly!
