Bomb-sniffing dog hasn't gone nuts yet, so I'm really envious of you guys, Michelle!

OK...I just got my DBF's packing tip:

The best packing tip I have is that I pack small items in my spare pair of shoes. Like I’ll put my toothbrush and deodorant in my shoes.

Good idea...never would have thought of that! :)

OH! One more mall sales note....

I parked outside of Sears to get to TDS, so as I was walking through, I saw that all of the swimming attire and accessories (hats, towels, Croc-like shoes, etc.) were on a really good clearance, and now you can take an ADDITIONAL 50% off!!! The Land's End swim suits and cover-ups, however, were not at an additional percentage off, but were on clearance. I think I'm heading back over there in about 15 minutes because this one swim suit cover-up won't get off my mind, even though I already have one! This one is cotton, not terry cloth though, so it would be a space saver. Yea...I need to buy it to save space and lighten the luggage! ;)

UPDATE: Correction....When I returned to the mall this afternoon, I saw that Land's End swimwear DOES have another 50% off the clearance price!!

...Which shirt did you get? I actually folded our table like that last night! It was a mess! LOL!!!!!! I really liked the Minnie shirt....

:thumbsup2 She's the one! ::MinnieMo

The lovely brown UPS truck arrived today, a slim little package with a return address of Celebration, FL...

Oh my gosh!!! I'm SO excited for you that I feel like I need to run home instead of going out for drinks tonight! Thanks for the NEWSFLASH!!! OMG...this is REALLY going to happen isn't it???!!

BTW, I still haven't received my Magic Express tickets, etc for my pre-cruise stay at the World. So many of you have mentioned you received them already, but me....nadda! :headache:

...someone got cruise docs already, HOW EXCITEING! I hope I dont pee my pants when I get mine :rotfl: I will be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited, with my luck they will come when I am sleeping, i work the next 4 out of 5 nights:scared1:

:lmao: I hear ya sista! If the Brown Man arrives while you're sleeping, I am willing to bet you won't be getting any more sleep before work!

Sorry, but the dog you see in this video was our dog. One of the last recordings. To us it's a nice memory ...

Oliver

Aw, she looks so sweet! I'm sorry for your loss but at least you have that wonderful video to remember her by :goodvibes

I wish I knew about this thread over a yr ago when i booked me and my family on this cruise. i need all the help i can get to get ready for this cruise....it is almost cruise time and i am not ready one iota...i have picked out what we will wear, what we will do, what we will eat...nothing....i biggest thing right now is finding out what to do as far as transportation to and from the airport...from the airport to my room off site and from room to ship the next day and from the ship directly to airport....any suggestions?:flower3:

Welcome! You will get TONS of tips here *cough* POST ONE *cough*

Who is J? Whose birthday is today? Someone on this cruise?

That would be really ironic because today is my birthday......AND it's also Chris' (Scoobypop) birthday, too! (He and I have already been texting our shared birthday greetings back and forth!!)

Happy Birthday Erik and Chris!

Erik, every time I go to type your name I type Jason instead and I have no idea why. You'd think I could remember a name that is almost MY name. I can't blame lack of caffiene either, it's 4:45 pm and I have have MANY cups of tea today. I guess I need a vacation!

The lovely brown UPS truck arrived today, a slim little package with a return address of Celebration, FL.

Cruise docs & luggage tags are here! I was totally confused as they were addressed to the 3rd adult in our party who doesn't live here. :confused3 Oh well, all that matters is they have arrived. Reality is starting to sink in!

Our first cruise is almost here! :cool1:

I'm so jealous!!!! I'll have to watch for mine. Though I don't know if the UPS man ventures out in tropical storms.....the postman did, he brought me some lovely damp mail. ;)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERIK, CHRIS AND JUSTICE (J) :bday:

Wow - I can't believe someone got their cruise docs already!!!! Just makes me anxious to get home everyday now!!! I mean they have to be coming sometime between now and 9/27 - right:rolleyes1 (see I can put 1 and 1 together!! :rotfl: )

BTW - I'm in for the wine and tequila/margarita. Still on the fence on the martini - but probably.

I would choose Magic Kingdom but I would guess you will get at least one vote for each of the parks. Each one has rides that I really enjoy. It is a tough choice, good luck and enjoy. Lois
Thanks Lois and everybody else that answered.

HAHA I see Arin is rubbing off on ya!
Ok speaking from only doing the parks when I was 7 and we only did the world... I would do the MK... or Epcot. Ya figure you could always do MK or Hollywood here in Cali. They are pretty much alike.. somewhat. But Epcot is well nothing like we have here.. YET at the same time the boys may be wanting to do the "real" disney park. (ya i know no help to you what so ever huh sorry! lol.
This may help you.. since your staying at pop we get the Extra Magic hours.. basically an hr before and an 3 hours after
heres the schedual of whats open when

Morning Hrs
MK- Oct 2,9,16,23,30
Epcot- Oct 7,14,21,28
Hollywood- Oct 4,11,18,28
Animal- Oct 6,13,20,27

Evening Hrs
MK- Oct 6,12,20,27
Epcot- Oct 3,10,17,24,31
Hollywood- Oct 5,13,19,26
Animal- Oct 1,8,15,22,29

Thanks for the codes Drea! Oh and the Camelpak idea I love. The only thing is does anybody know if you can use it? I didn't think you can take any liquid off the ship unless it was sealed? Or did I read that wrong?

A little bit about us - I am Katie 30, Dwayne is 35 - we are currently stationed in Baumholder, Germany as my DH is Active-duty Army. He is currently on his 3rd combat tour in Iraq and has about 2.5 yrs to retirement at 20!
Hi Katie, welcome!! I'm Tonya (32) and my husband Mike is 33. Mike was in the Marine Corps and now he is a police officer. Wow, your DH is about to retire.. how exciting!! Mine would have stayed in if his MOS promoted. Motor T.. yuck! Anyways.. I go to school and working part time so I can stay home with my kids. This is our first trip with our 2 boys. They are so excited.. me too!! Welcome!
Hey everyone,

I know I haven't posted in about forever....life has been nuts the last two weeks. I was in NYC and Buffalo, NY last week for work and then I spent the whole weekend and most of this week with my cheerleaders. Try-outs began on Monday and so I spent literally two 13 hour days in a row over the weekend working on jumps and perfecting last minute tumbling before try-outs began. Then try-outs began on Monday afternoon....which takes up several hours each night every night this week...in ADDITION to my job! AAAAAAHHHH!!!

Hey Erik, sounds like you have a lot of reading to do! lol I missed a day and it has taken me an hour to read it all. lol Sounds like you are busy with the cheerleaders. :cheer2: I don't know how you do it on top of working full time.
I bet you are ready to relax.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Erik, Chris and Justice!

Still no room number for us...which means we probably won't get our docs today since aren't room numbers on the documents?

Man I'm hoping that all this patience is going to kick in and we'll get a good upgrade.
Us either.... hmm makes sence.. ok ill hold off on bugging E... at least about the ups guy :rotfl: :::whispers:::think that means they are going to surprize us at port with getting the Walt Suite LMAO :thumbsup2

Tonya

HMMM does anyone know that? I was planning on filling ours up with ice water to take off the ship. But if thats a no go then no use in taking it.. yet it would come in handy at the parks still.

Happy birthday Erik and Justice!!!!!

 Yippee!!!! If you got yours today, I should get mine tomorrow. Wow, wow, wow!!!! I can't wait. That makes it seem so much closer.

I hope you get a good upgrade, too!! Good luck.

I'm with Dreams Unlimited, and the docs came directly to me. I have read in another thread that a poster's travel agent called to tell them that they received their docs & were sending them out to them. So I'm not entirely sure what is going on there....

Hmmmm .... ok. Thanks, Michelle (great name, by the way. ;) ).

The last time we were at WDW, the 'stuff' for our trip went to the travel agent and then, she had to get it to me. (I have 2 friends that are WDW specialists for travel agencies ..... simply because they love WDW :) ). I was hoping that wouldn't happen this time. I am so excited that I really don't want to wait to get it.

Wow...gone for a day and 1/2 and we're like 15 pages down.

I got one of our two packets of cruise docs today, with luggage tags. Sadly no upgrade..(not that I was expecting one). This time the tags are green....

Welcome to all the newbies.

Happy birthday to all the birthday boys too.

Michelle try to stay dry over there, I hear Fay is coming back through. I hope you fared well with all that flooding.

We always took a cup from the drink 9 drink station OFF with us in Nassau. Not sure if all the ports allow it. I'm sure you can't bring open drinks back on, tho.

We've been doing a lot of shopping and I have begin to amass a nice pile in the corner. (Nothing to rival Drea or Arin..but....:rolleyes1 )

Tonya I think that was you asking about 10 pages ago...I would totally say Magic Kingdom if you have to pick one park.

Its already time to go to work ,ugh...

Happy Birthday, hope you have a joyfull day.

I've NEVER received this before, but today I got an email for Michael's Crafts on-line coupon, which can be used for magnetic paper to make your door decorations. I THINK this was the thread that someone asked about coupons this week. I mentioned that they did not have a coupon in last Sunday's paper, but it would be in this coming Sunday's paper. So here's another that can be used starting today until August 30:

http://www.michaels.com/coupons/081908/coupon.html

I STAND CORRECTED! I did return to the mall after work, and saw that indeed the Land's End swimwear DOES have another 50% off the clearance price!!

I was talking to my DM while I was there, and I asked her if she needed a new swimsuit cover-up. She said "Sure!" I responded "Well....you won't mind if we look like twins, would you?" So if you see two women walking around in matching white and teal trimmed cover-ups, that's us!

While talking to DM, I mentioned to her that Michelle received her cruise docs today. She brought up a good question. Obviously, the three of us staying in the same cabin have different residences. Will the docs come to me, the primary cruiser, or will DCL send each of us an envelope? My assumption is that there will be one package sent to the primary cruiser. Am I correct?

BTW, I'm happy to report I think my packing list is 100% complete!! All the way down to the outfits and accessories!

...However I think we should start planning which tastings we all want to go to so we can get the tickets upon boarding.

Last time they had

Tequila/Margarita
Beer
Wine
Martini

:scared1: I'm scared now. I had been thinking about adult beverage tastings too.

I want to attend the martini flight orientation!! Can you sign up for these on Saturday, or do you have to wait until it's noted in the Navigator?

I...biggest thing right now is finding out what to do as far as transportation to and from the airport...from the airport to my room off site and from room to ship the next day and from the ship directly to airport....any suggestions?:flower3:

I'm not sure how many you have in your party, so for many of us, that has an impact on the decision, financially speaking. We found our best option (3 adults) is as follows:

  • one-way rental from MCO to Port Canaveral on Friday
  • stay at Radisson at the Port Friday Night
  • drop two of us off at the DCL port Saturday morning (to check everyone in and drop off luggage)
  • driver takes car to rental place for drop-off
  • car rental place offers free shuttle to DCL port (remember there's only one person with NO luggage, so this makes it easy to get on the first available shuttle)
Upon return on October 4 :sad1: , leave two people at the port, one takes a shuttle to the car rental place, returns to pick up luggage and 2 people, then head to MCO.

If you have several people, believe it or not, you may actually find it's cheaper to get a limo/town car/van that will fit everyone and their luggage. Since you're new to the DISboards, let me introduce you to the DIS's "mom", Shirley (owner of The Perfect Gift, which you'll see referenced a lot here on the boards). She's a local down there and gives us SO much helpful information about the Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach area, including car rental agencies. Check out Post #1 on her Helpful Info Thread.

Hope that gives another perspective of your options!

Happy Birthday Justice, Erik and Chris!

Have a great night everyone!

I am printing out some of my magnets now!! I decided on photo paper from the dollar store. The card stock didn't work very well on the ones I was printing. I will be taking them to Staples for laminating and then putting magnets on the back!

Thanks everyone for the welcome on this board! I feel right at home already...Well, thanks Buckeye for the info you provided to me about the one way car rental...i was thinking about doing that, and actually called budget renta car and they gave me a quote of 82.00 one way from mco airport to room and from room to cape canaveral....and about the same rate from cape canaveral to mco airport...however, i cannot justify paying almost the same price for only about one hour rental....there are four of us..me, dh, dd12 and ds2...can you tell me what car rental company you are using...sounds like you have a good thing going there...any help will help...it is crunch time and I am feeling the pressure already.:goodvibes  :surfweb:
