Double dip Castaway Cay Cruise?

Now that there is Lookout Cay and there are about to be six ships, CC double dips will likely become very rare. There are a fair number of cruises that go to both CC and LC- that's probably the new CC double dip, unfortunately.

Two Castaway Cay stops could be mostly a thing of the past now that there's Lookout Cay - especially in the next couple years since Disney will really be pushing their brand new toy.

Is LC as good as CC is, or is there a "drop" in quality?

Phil
Drop in quality, on most metrics. The beach and water themselves are prettier than on Castaway, but the island infrastructure, design, transportation, appearance, convenience, activities, etc., are of markedly reduced quality.

One example is that there are only a few rows of beach chairs on the family beach. Everyone else has to sit behind the dunes, where you can't see the ocean. There is also a 3/4 mile concrete pier with no shade or benches that guests have to walk before they even get to the trams which take you to the beach, so convenience and comfort are greatly reduced. Etc., etc.

I don’t believe there is a drop in quality. LC is just new and will take some time to grow into its own. We were on the June 19th stop at LC and thoroughly enjoyed it. There are some things that will need to be worked out, but it’s not being promoted to be the same as Castaway Cay. It’s supposed to be a different kind of experience. The beach at Lookout Cay is definitely better, sand softer and water bluer.

Are there any two days at Castaway Cay cruises upcoming? We previously had gone on one and loved it, but they seem to be few and far between.

There is one this month, July 20-25, on the Fantasy. I am very much looking forward to being on it!

beauty is in they eyes of the beholder. they are different, almost like comparing apple's and oranges. mostly what you will hear here is from people who havent actually been but wanted castaway cay version 2. But the people that have actually gone seem to like it. better or worse is less meaningful than different.

actually I was disappointed when booking a cruise on the treasure (love trying new ships) they dont seem to have any planned stops at LC so I was stuck with CC again. Makes sense the Treasure holding so many people but still. so I suppose the secret to finding one that does go to LC is to stick with the Magic or Wonder, conversely to avoid it, maybe the Wish and Treasure?

The larger ships dont seem to be going to LC yet, so perhaps if you narrow your search to the larger ships you might have more luck!

We have been and would not go back. There is a much lower quality to the guest experience. The guest is an afterthought here. We didn't want or expect CC #2 but we did expect to be able to watch our child in the water from a chair. Standing in the blazing sun all day is not relaxing!

Thanks for making my point for me, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I have heard/read plenty of reports from people that enjoyed it. I am sorry you had a bad experience, but sometimes experiences are made not had.

There is no drop in quality at all, but the intent of Lookout is different than Castaway. If you are looking for a nice short shaded stroll to a chair on the beach, then you will be disappointed. Lookout was constructed with as little environmental impact as possible. That means your own personal 'environment' may experience more heat, sweat, and fatigue than most tourists expect.

The Wonder looks like it’s going to stay in the Pacific, and the Treasure does not yet have any dates that include Lookout. But the other four ships have at least some stops there.

according to the DCL web site no visits are planned for the Dream, Wonder or Treasure through spring 2026. The Wish does have some stops planned in late 2025. So if one wants to visit LC in the next year, it is the Magic and the Fantasy. Agreed in cruising terms a year is a short time frame. I am still adapting :)

The Dream will stop at LC at the end of the WBTA in early November.

My apologies, I was looking at available cruises as that was the original question... I do think my original premise is still accurate, if you want to find one this year, look to the magic or fantasy :)
