Double digits..

What is all the hype about "double digits"? My DGD and her best friend are soooooo excited that on their upcoming birthdays they will both be in the "double digits" (10)..

Is this something new that the kids get terribly excited about?

I keep telling DGD she is not going to be 10 - or "double digits" - or whatever else she wants to call it.. She's going to stay three for the rest of her life! Boy - do I miss those days..

I don't remember any double digit excitement but I specifically remember being ten years old and in my front yard looking at my fingers and being SO excited to finally be turning eleven and be off both hands. Wow, that was a LONG time ago.
I don't know, it is a milestone I suppose. The innocence of youth.

I remember being so excited to turn 10. My son is going to be 13 in a few weeks. When he was 1st born my grandma asked me how old I wished that he was and I said 5..little did I know how fast the time would go...and that that was the easy part.

I remember 30 some years ago my friend's brother being excited to turn "double digits" so, no, nothing new.
