Doreen's New Way of Life (comments are welcome)

Thank you all for visiting!! :grouphug: One of my many goals for this weekend is to get around to all the journals! I've missed visiting all my WISH journal buddies! ::yes::

The Great Tankini Challenge of 2005??? :earseek: Well, my bathing suit HAS seen better days and it sure would be nice to drop some weight and buy a new one....OK count me in!! :cool1: Now, about posting those pics....hmmmm.....we'll see! :teeth:

For anyone interested in the Philadelphia half marathon in September, the website is www.philadistancerun.org. I'm seriously considering this. The time limit is 3.5 hours, just like the Disney half. I'll aim for a better time than 3:24 and a better chip time than 3:14. Could I be starting a habit?? I think I'll post a thread on the main WISH board and see if there's anyone else who's interested.

Today: (edit 4 PM)
1. Devotions - not yet.
2. Pills - meds AND vitamins taken :p
3. Water - 16 oz down
4. Healthy eating - B was a small bowl of Cheerios, L was an Atkins bar
5. Exercise - FIRM BSS2 Max Cardio Sculpt w/ Abs w/ Allie - my first FIRM tape! No fanny lifter, no sculpting stick, but I still managed to work up a sweat! :earseek: :p

Gee, I see a pattern here. :teeth: Time to get moving! :sunny: I've got laundry and housework to do, and a mall trip with DD (she needs jeans).

Amanda mentioned bathing suits, didn't she? Do you remember last year's tankini talks? Let's all make a deal to reward ourselves with brand new bathing suits when (not if, but WHEN) we reach our goal weights. Then we can post pictures of ourselves wearing them! :rotfl: Yeah, right! Like I'd ever do that in a MILLION YEARS!!!! OK, well, enough comedy. I have to get to work. Have a good day, Doreen.

I am more then willing to join a Tankini Challenge but there is no way I am going to post a picture of me in it! LOL! Unless it is from the cruise and I have a very fruity tropical drink in my hand! Lapu lapu anyone?

Doe I know you plan on getting to the grocery store today - go with a list and DO NOT buy the things that are going to tempt you. Potato chips are just junk food and Todd and the kids don't need it ;) If they complain tell them they can call me  .

1. Devotions - We do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. -2 Corinthians 4:16 (NIV) This hits home when I'm contemplating being 40 and growing older, with all the aches and pains that go along with that. I know some older people (in their 70s & 80s) from church who have such a young spirit - never hear them complain about their health.
2. Pills - meds & vitamins taken. :p
3. Water - on my second 12 oz mug.
4. Healthy eating - a major trip to the store is on tap! I've got the list made and will use it as a master list for the future too! I'm going to enter it on the computer so I can just print it off, keep it on the fridge, and check off anything that's running low. Not sure what my meals will be yet - haven't done a specific menu plan for the week. B = apple w/ PB
5. Exercise - I'm going to try to fit another FIRM tape in today! I'm excited about this!

Gotta run, but I'll be back later!

Way to go Doe!!! :cheer2: You did your first FIRM tape!! Woohoo! Isn't Allie a great instructor??? I hope you love the FIRM as much as I do!

I like your idea of creating a master grocery list to keep on the fridge! That is a great idea! I may have to borrow that one. ;)

Have a great Sunday, Doe! :flower1:

Doe - which firm tape have you used yet? Did you like it?
I think that is a great idea about making a master grocery list - I might have to start doing that myself. :)

What a great idea! I hadn't thought about it, but I usually buy the same stuff over and over. I might try that, too!

You're doing great :flower:

This is a good Monday - no work!! :p The kids have a vacation day from school. DH has decided that he's staying home too! DD & I postponed our mall trip til today, but since we have snow on the ground and it's icy out, I'm not sure we're going anywhere.

I got up at 5 and did the FIRM Total Sculpt + Abs with Jen. This one focused on weight training with some aerobics thrown in. So far I'm enjoying the FIRM. The moves are sometimes complicated but that means I'm paying such close attention that I'm not watching the clock. The time really flies by and I can tell it's quite a workout! Shouldn't take long to see results with this series!

Today: (edit 9:45 PM)
1. Devotions - done.
2. Pills - taken.
3. Water - 5 mugs finished.
4. Healthy eating - lots of healthy food in the house but I don't have a meal plan yet.... B = apple w/ PB, AM snack = string cheese & honeydew / cantaloupe, late L / early D = 2 lc tortillas w/ taco meat & cheese
5. Exercise - FIRM BSS2 Total Sculpt + Abs w/ Jen - done!

Could this be a 5 smilie day????? I'll be working toward that goal! Oh, and I'll FINALLY take down that Christmas tree in the living room!! ;)

Yes! It is going to be a five :D day!!!

Have an enjoyable day off today!

Good Job on the Firm you Super Jock Athlete princess: ! :) I am so happy to hear that you like the tapes. The moves are sometimes complicated and there were several times I just walked in place. I know that with using the scuplting bar I really felt it in my arms. Be sure to drink plenty of water after your workout.

How was the trip to the grocery store? Do you have any yummy meals planned? Be sure to share them! :)

~Amanda

Hi Doe: Just popping over to say I am back from my trip, and starting anew--I'll be journalling again.

I was so pleased to hear that you had finished. I got stopped at the MK, but the whole weekend so far exceeded my expectations that I am not crushed by this.

I can't believe that I made it as far as I did and had the energy level I had--I feel as though I can do anything.

See you on the boards.

Yesterday was my first 5 smilie day in a very long time!! WOO HOO!! DS, DD & I survived our mall trip and I refused to buy any food or drinks while there, knowing I'd be too tempted to go off plan. We waited until we got home and ate, so I stayed on plan AND saved some $$. :p

Today it's back to work and the comfort of my routine. I'm feeling mostly good but a little stressed and anxious. I'm going to take baby steps at work and do what I can. It was nice to come into work to my CLEAN desk, instead of the usual clutter. :p

Today: (edit: 3:30 PM)
1. Devotions - If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! -Matthew 7:11 (NIV)
2. Pills - taken.
3. Water - 4 mugs down and halfway through the last one.
4. Healthy eating - B was an apple w/ PB, L was pineapple yogurt w/ walnuts. Snack was a Clementine and 2 string cheese. D will be chicken baked in cream of chicken soup and some kind of veggie. While this isn't strictly low carb, it feels right to me. I'm right on track so far!
5. Exercise - this is the one I'm not sure about. I've started using the FIRM tapes but I don't want to do them every day. I'm aiming for every other day in the beginning so I don't overdo it. Today is an off day, but I should do something. I'll think about this. I'd certainly like another 5 smilie day.

YAY! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc A 5 smilie day!

YAY! :Pinkbounc Another pound has gone!

Ahh, you must be feeling good today, Doreen, AND you have a clean desk!
When life is good, it's very, very, good! I hope today's another winner for you.

Don't reply to the PM yet, I'm exploring some more, lower cost options that I'll propose when I've got 'em. Have you read MeMe's latest post? She's got some ideas, too. Stay tuned for more ideas in the next day or two. . .

Take care, sweetie, and enjoy your Tuesday.

:flower: Erin

Hey girlie! Good job on the 5 :) - you are doing awesome. In regards to your dinner tonight really the cream of chicken soup does not add to many carbs so don't sweat the small stuff okay!

I agree with doing the firm every other day. Those tapes are tough and you really do want to give your body some recovery time. I suggest maybe doing some stretching tonight. Per Curves 15% of our weight loss comes from stretching the muscles. So take 20 minutes and really stretch that body out doing arms, legs, back, and abs. You will feel energized afterwards - remember to breathe deeply!

~Amanda

Hi Doreen,

Congratulations on a 5 smilie day. That is a great way to start the week! Keep up the great work. I agree that the Firm should be every other day for now. You enjoy your pilates tape, so you could alternate with that.

Have a great evening,
Beth
