Ok, I know it's November...but I haven't done anything for the door magnets...and at this point, I'm not sure I will be able to make any...does anyone know if I can buy some premade? If so, where? Help !!!!!

All depends on what kind of magnets you are thinking about.

I know last year, I went to Jo-Anns and bought pre-painted wooden cut outs that were painted and also bought a few rolls of magnet tape and made some of my own.

I also used Disney paint chips from Home Depot and made some of my own magnets.

I also used some DISigns from the DISign board (with appropriate creator approval of course).

The rest of them DP was nice enough [read as: 'slave driven by Todd with threat of starvation and sleeping in the snow on the deck'] to make some specific stuff that I printed out and put the magnet tape on the back of.

Suggestion: Personalize your magnets, even if its just an address sticker on the back. It lessens their likelihood of walking.

I am ordering magnet paper from e-bay this week, as I have some different ideas this year and think it would work better with the magnet paper.

I bought some magnet paper at Michaels, but I can't get anything to stick to it...have tried several types of glue....frustrating....The wooden cut outs are a good idea though....we have a JoAnns around here somewhere...and I do have some of the Home Depot paint chips.......thanks Todd....

The magnet paper I am referring to is paper that you put through your printer and then just cut/trim any portions you want.

Oh, ok....I bought a different type then...hmmmm, may have to rethink this.

Lots of time and millions of choices. I was up until the wee hours the night before my flight last time, finishing trimming magnets and paint parts on my fish extender.

I just started to print some of our stuff today. I am going to print and laminate stuff where I work then buy rolls of magnet stuff at Wally-World or Michael's if I must. In addition to the DISigns board, try the cruise board graphics thread as I got some cool personalized stuff, specifically for our anniversary and such :)

I am so overwhelmed with this....I can't find what I want, I may just give up this time....

Don't worry so much about it!

Your door decorations are NOT the most important part of the trip. It is just a fun extra. Don't get so stressed out.
More important are the people you are going to meet. :grouphug:
I am going to remember YOU long after any memory of any door fades away! :goodvibes

Thanks, that's very sweet of you to say...and you are right.

Ok, I pulled my stuff out today, and I have a few ideas......

I purchased Printable Magnetic Paper from Staples here in Canada. It is also sometimes called Magnetic Photo Paper. I was worried it might be hard to work with but it was just like printing on any other paper. You just have to remember to load only one into the print feed tray at a time as they like to stick together. Mine had a glossy finish and the magnets look really nice.
I will have to be careful not to get them wet as inkjet ink runs even on photo paper.
I guess if my door gets wet on Deck 8, I have more to worry about than my magnets running:rotfl2:

Is there anyone who sells them? I am far from crafty. And, of course, I am down to 29 days. December 16th on the Wonder!! WOOHOO!:yay:

Hi Mickey9170
I can be crafty but it takes so very long I can accomplish so many more things if I leave that to someone else. I went over to the Disigns board and found a couple of extremely nice people who make magnet designs for others.
Here is a link to the thread
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2552775&highlight=jordak+magnets
I read through the thread quite a bit and looked at the designs there and on the designers photobucket account and then requested 12 different designs - 7 of them from Jordak and 5 of them from Millipie. They finished them so quickly - one to two days and posted them so I could download a jpeg. I then just printed them using my regular Microsoft photo program picking the different picture sizes that fit the image best. I printed them directly onto Magnet photo paper and they turned out fantastic.
I was originally just going to use generic pictures but it is so nice to have them designed just for us.

Forgot to add, in case you are interested the designs they made for me are on Page 45 Post #666, Page 48 Post #715.
We are bringing our kids on the cruise and they are over the moon about the magnet designs.
