There is case law to that effect, but I don't have a cite. For landlords - which is what DVC is to you.

But I would guess they have to have a valid reason for demanding immediate entrance. Context is everything.

Not really. "We need to show your unit" "We need to check your faucet." "We need to make sure you haven't died in here." or "We need to take out the trash and make sure you aren't building a dirty bomb." In other words, pretty much any excuse will work. So context becomes you trying to prove that your landlords intent was something other than what he claims it was.
